I have and wear my Sjc jeans. I think they are great!
If you have a problem with Simon or his forum this is not the place to air it.

It must be Halloweentime,as we seem to be channeling the spirits of the departed around here this week.

Interestingly, it is my understanding that Aero offered to make some Leather Jackets for SJC. He refused, preferring to use Indian factories.

So far, other than failed samples, not one production jacket has appeared......

If you didn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't on the sale page. At one point there was the black grizzly jacket for sale around January. You clicked on the pic and it sent you on the sale page with an old pic of a man riding a motorcycle In the wild wearing a "Grizzly" jacket.

You should stop spreading wrong information about the jackets. You're definitely wrong but you prefer to attack other persons before admiting it I guess. I have very good memory and so does the internet cache.

That was ONE SAMPLE, my friend. One black, one brown......

And SJC have since ditched the factory.

If you don't wanna believe it, Willy, that's cool.

Good luck to you.

I'll catch up with you in another 12 months. Let's see how many garments (rather than samples) SJC can REALLY produce between now and then...

I have not heard of SJC until this post. Their boots are stunning at a pretty good price. Does anyone know if they fit true to size?

They are supposed to fit true to UK sizing, but you maybe need to search on here for the fit issues surrounding the Engineers Boots before jumping in.

The negative comments above have a kind of persistence indicative of some kind of grudge. As the man said above, take it elsewhere.

As we often say on here - pics or it didn't happen. The only pics on the SJC site are the ones of Matt's jacket. The Grizzly's have NEVER appeared on his sales site. So how did he sell them? Telepathy? The jacket that WAS made was a sample - so it consisted of just ONE garment. No need to hit minimums.

Here is an example of SJC spin:

Three piece 1930 Suit
Delivery: September
Est. Price £640 (this is the best scenario with over 30 suits sold)
*Amended price after being told by cloth and UK tailoring companies that there is an Added Value Tax put on all items of 20%.
Any persons larger than a 46 chest 40 waist will be charged £30 for an extra meter of cloth.
Prices, deliveries and everything can change with additions to design (extra pockets etc), cloth, trim, buttons, etc (but this a good estimate).

Timeline: From ordering a sample to it being delivered six weeks, tweak sample site feedback etc two weeks, remake sample six weeks, final fitting & photoshoot two weeks. Live on site for four weeks. Suit ordered six weeks, one week delivery, 27 weeks - September

Now, that was posted on SJC in early 2015 - 18 months ago. Are we any nearer to seeing those garments that should have been on the streets in September last year?

As far as I can see, SJC is a spin operation. Talk for long enough about a garment, and the site members believe it.

You guys have spent THREE months discussing the name of a pair of trousers. Hello?

Maybe one day, it will come true. I hope it does.

But please don't tell me about stuff that has never been made......

Aero leathers stocked the jeans.

They sold them all off in their recent "Grand Theft" sale, even though they were not theft stock, due to quality issues.

Denny had to mention specific faults in order to sell them.

As I understand, Aero have no plans to restock them.

And SJC don't stock them either!

That sounds like one good selling jean......

Truth bomb re 'Yakima'

To pour this amount of scorn onto a sole trader, whose products you don't even own, is not natural. And indeed it is only when one realises the poster's true identity that such unending aggressive hatred becomes understandable, in this sad case, par for the course even.

Granted, he is trying his hardest to not use emoticons (his calling card) but he still cannot resist capitalizing individual words. This is a guy who those familiar with his work will remember as always angry and always shouting. The absolute final nail in the coffin however is www.classicsouldcentral.com in his signature. He likes soul almost as much as he does denim jackets. Join up date is consistent too. Thus without a shadow of a doubt I give you the infamous Major Major, banned (understandably) from basically every forum going (including this one) except for SJC's. And this is how he repays Simon's tolerance and generosity! What a lovely guy

So why is he here now spewing his hatred onto these pages you ask? Good question. Well, over at SJC nobody, and I mean literally not a soul, is prepared to acknowledge him or anything that he posts anymore. He is completely ignored over there, I wonder why.. (which btw is exactly the type of aggressive rhetorical question that he himself likes to use so much). And so the answer is out of sheer spite, and for attention.

Next question. Okay, he may not be stable but from the mouths of madmen may still come some truth from time to time, so is there any in his ramblings now?
No, none.
There was no quality issue with the jeans aero stocked, only a very brief misunderstanding that was very quickly cleared up, which is why nobody is going to come on and post up any photos of these defects since they don't exist. The jeans in question were hand tailored, made by a dude, one at a time, as evidenced by some of the visible chalk marks that he left around the pockets from where he had marked out and cut the pieces himself. For a company that prides itself on handmade you might have expected aero to recognise that alas they evidently did not, presumably because they are so used to factory produced denim. In any case, those jeans along with all of the other jeans in their inventory (i.e. Lee and Levi's too) were sold off in that big sale thus it would appear that aero had simply determined to clear out everything, not just its SJC jeans.

As for the grizzly jackets I have it from the horse's mouth that some in black certainly were sold and that this winter a tan version is going to be released.

As for SJC products and Simon himself, I will happily testify that the jeans - I own yard boss, brakemans, and punks - are the best I have. Granted I don't have a wardrobe full of high end Japanese selvage but I like them a lot more than my Iron Hearts, mainly because of the cuts, which he nails. Furthermore, IMHO nobody else atm is offering a better vintage cut than the SJC yard boss nor AFAIK are there better polo shirts to be found than his. If there are, please somebody point them out. I also have a pair of size 10 engineers and there is no issue with the sizing.

In my experience of him Simon is a stand up guy - thus I feel compelled to come on and set the record straight - who stands behind his products. He certainly does not deserve this type of public hatred for no reason. Just a decent, regular guy trying to get something going. Even more to my liking is his stringent quality control, which in my view works out great for the buyers. Presumably, this is in large part because he knows full well that with people like Major Major out there he cannot afford to let anything that's less than perfect slip out into the wild, because if he did it would be used against him and he would be crucified for it by haters with agendas on public forums like this.

I'm all but done. Last thing to say is that with one offs like Major Major the worst thing you can ever do is to engage with them. Major Major has never been wrong and will never run out of hate. Hopefully now that you all know who you're dealing with nobody else will bother and he'll soon take his anger and resentment off to some place else

*I had not realised that www.classicsoulcentral.com is in fact a blog that Major Major himself runs, so yeah, there is no doubt it's him.
Weird that he'd invent a new username and leave out the emoticons but then plug his own blog in the signature!

I own the following SJC products; Brakeman jeans, Big B jeans, Big B Chinos, two Hard Luck bandanas, a Submariner jumper, three of the polos, a couple of sample long sleeve polos, cap, a pair of engineers in acorn and I've got a bone shaker shawl neck cardigan on order. I bought and paid for all of this stuff - I can even show you the receipts if you don't believe it - and every single item has been of great quality, fitted really well, stood up perfectly to solid every day wear. I love it. I've only met Simon in person once, and he was a thoroughly decent chap, who I honestly believe is trying to do the best he can for his customers and trying to make great stuff at sensible prices. I have no worries what-so-ever about recommending him, his company or his products. I've even done some graphics work for him FOR FREE WITH NO PAYMENT because I believe in what he's trying to do and want to help him. That's the kind of guy Simon is, a nice guy you want to help out and see succeed.

I own a pair of Brakeman jeans - best "premium" jeans I have ever owned. I would be interested in one of these "Gang" jackets w/o the patches for me however w/patches, is a cool look. I can see the appeal for some/many.

I own the Brakeman jeans, which are the best jeans I ever had. No quality issues whatsoever, quite the contrary. I also have three of the polos. Design and quality are superb. In all my dealings with Simon he has been more than forthcoming.

I am going to receive the first SJC 1930s suit. And yes, I paid in full quite a while ago. Do I worry because the suits are not ready yet? No, I don't. My impression of Simon is that he is genuine. He is doing his best to get it right. I am more than happy to wait and get the real deal in the end instead of another half assed attempt like so many other manufacturers offer. Simon really communicates what is going on. Several factories were tried out, quite a few samples were made and the progress is steady. The samples keep getting better and better and we are almost there. Please consider that this suit is going to be a dead ringer for a vintage suit. The construction of vintage suits is completely different from modern suits and the factories are not familiar with it. They basically have to learn it and there is a high possibility of the factories making mistakes because they have no eye for the vintage details. So yes, Simon was much too optimistic about the time frame when a suit according to vintage standards could be achieved. But I laud him for not giving up, for not taking any shortcuts by compomising. It could well be that the upcoming unstructured work suit will be available before the canvassed suits. The first sample was nearly perfect. The construction is easier to get right and they had an original to work from. Am I going to complain if the work suits come first? No, I am going to buy one.

How anybody can think Simon is a shill beats me. He has a fledgling company and is basically juggling 20 balls at once. The progress of all projects as well as reasons for delays are clearly communicated in the forum, numerous iterations of samples are posted. It is all open and transparent. So far Simon has delivered Balmoral boots, spectator shoes, engineer boots, wabash jeans and caps, several denim models, caps, polos, grizzly jacket, three neckerchiefs, t-shirts, belts. I might have forgotten something. Doesn't look like a spin operation to me. Anybody who calls Simon a fraud should attempt what he is doing and make it better.

I, too, do own some of the SJC stuff. Quality and fit is great, prices are fair and reasonable. In fact I own a Big B's Jeans bought at Aero's GTA online sale. No faults or quality issues here! I was lucky enough to grab this piece of great denim at a killer price...and yes, while the GTA, there was a lot of Denim on sale, not only SJC products. I will definetly buy again from Simon...

Yes. It's a personal grudge. Nothing more. You can just ignore Mayor Grumpy Mc Grumpface.

Let's be honest. Quite a few projects SJC take forever. The items that made it are really good though. I own several (trousers, shoes, polos) and they don't let you down. As someone who has worked with small labels (and lives with someone who runs one) I would hope you can cut them some slack. Minimum orders are no laughing matter but a real problem. Factories are impatient and even the fabrics in which you sampled the garments can be out of stock on short notice any time. It's an uphill battle 99% of the times.

But you don't have to deal with this at all if you prefer to buy things with one click and no waiting time. Buy RRL, LVC, Mister Freedom or even cheaper workwear brands from China. Why not? It's your choice. Just don't be a troll and put those down who try to make a living.

I know nothing of the company, nor any controversy. As for wearing Gang related gear? I cannot. There were no "Fonzies" where I grew up. The "7 Crowns", "Harlem Lords" and "Latin Kings" were real and dangerous. To wear colors of any sort, even fictitious ones is asking for trouble at least here in America, perhaps not in Europe or Asia. Just my 2 cents. "What set you with" is NOT a rhetorical question....
