Hello gentleman, I was hoping somebody could help me figure out the right size to order in an a-1 jacket . got my heart set on an aero leather. I'm 5ft 10, 13 and half st athletic build 33" waist. Usually a size 40 chest fits me most things but I understand these come up snug.

Might be worth giving Aero a call and get some info on measurements of their A-1’s. Had to ring them myself recently and they were very cool about measuring for me. FWIW I purchased one from ELC & I’m a 46” chest, but went for a 48 and even that’s very tailored on me.

Thank you, from what I can tell from reading what I can find on a-1s I think going 2 sizes up may be best but I will also contact aero.

I’d definitely size up on an A1, Aero’s 30s cuts run slim.

Size 44 unless you want to look like a sausage.

Have you guys tried Aero's A-1 jacket? Because advicing to size up sounds like a very bad idea to me...

I have one at home and no way he is going to need to size up. @dudewuttheheck can comment to that too. It will look boxy and like a sack of potatoes if he sizes up being a 40.

I was a size 40-41 in this pic and you can see how a 42 looked on me. i don't have a full pic but it was boxy, long and not very flattering:

Yip,,the op was almost the same dimensions as myself so I’m speaking from personal experience, and I was measured in person at aero .,,size 44,fit perfectly.
I’m now around 14stone and comfortable in my headwind A1 in a size 46.

When you buy an Aero they ask for specific measurements from you and make the jacket to fit. If you buy one from their sale page the listing gives the important measurements. With respect asking members here what size will not get you a jacket that fits as well as one ordered from Aero after giving them your ‘vital statistics’. Further if you insist on going up two sizes and it arrives too large for you it’s quite possible you’ll be stuck with it as they will have given you what you asked for ordered and paid for ie a jacket two sizes too big for you, so you should as others have said, email or phone Aero direct - that’s my advice take it or leave it.

IMO sizing up is a terrible recommendation. That jacket is going to be wearing you. I would just ask Aero for specs to make sure you know what you would be getting with each size.

I'm a 42 is nearly everything. 5'10", 190 lbs, 42" chest, 36" waist and here is how a size 40 Aero A-1 fits on me. I would not want a size 42.

This is a no brainer. Email or speak with Aero. I wear a 45L in suits. After chatting with them and sending them my measurements, they said if you want a loser fit to wear with a sweater go with 46 and if you want a somewhat tighter fit go with 44. They also fine tuned the sleeve length and length. I went with 44 and am quite satisfied. Good hunting, BillC

Out of all the people who have responded, how many have actually been measured at the factory? I have,,and had a jacket that fit to perfection.labelled size 44.
Terrible advice ?ok,Hopefully the op ends up with a great fitting jacket whatever the label says,,it’s all about body shape & accurate measurements at the end of the day .Let Ken or Denny make the decision,I was only relating my own experience, what do I know :)

I have had two Aero jackets made after being measured at the factory and both were too big, i sold both and ended up sizing down 1 size from what i was told would fit me.
I am a 42 in most things, 40 in all my Aero's.

My chest size is close to 43" but usually size 40" fits. My Shackleton waistcoat is size 40 and fits perfect but when I spoke to aero they advised me to go for a 44" which would have been too big. So I'm a bit scared of just going off my chest measurement alone. Think my body shape must be out of whack! Photos of 40" Shackleton

There’s the problem,,my body shape is obviously perfect so a 44 fits.:)
Like I said,it’s only my experience with aero and sizing.I’m lucky they are only an hour away, and everything I have been fitted for has worked out great .one size 42 from 2009,four size 44,,and one size 46(premier workcoat).

Could you please post the measurements to your 44" aero a-1. . I think that would help a lot thank you.
