Barry, i'm sure i've seen that twin pleat cap in a catalogue with a name before, but i can't find it at the moment.
i like it. it has a very late teens - early 20s feel.

Yes, indeed. I think it was posted here or in the other thread before it was send to me. I just didn't took the time to make some pictures before. The v-pleat is a great detail and still very clean looking.

Thanks, Feraud, I see another cap maker on here scored some of this vintage wool. It's a little on the heavy side but really worked out great for this cap.

The french canvas worked great, BK.

The lining looks really good. The pale colour and the 'faded' stamp give it a vintage look.

I imagine with that stuff it's difficult to get a good sharp dart with all the bulk of the fabric.

Do you think you'll find a source for French canvas over there? It shouldn't be too difficult, I wouldn't think. It is a very basic tailoring supply.

I have a pair of Rising Sun jeans and they line the waistband with cotton duck. A cool detail.

BK, it's the cut and sewing technique that allows the corners to be rounded. I do have 2 other patterns, but I keep reaching for this one. Do you prefer the pointy dart over the contour ones? The buckham I'm using is very close to the french canvas, but I do think the french canvas is made a lot better. Thanks for sending that to me btw! Here is a newer 8 panel cap also that I have been working on. I have redesigned the rear of the cap and constructing them a little differently.

I quite like the contoured darts, actually. What I meant was at the very tip of the dart (the tip of the wedge cut-out), and at all the seams, particularly the brim-edge seam, it must take a hell of a lot of pressing to get that bulky boucle fabric to not bulge or show unsightly.
