I recently purchased a used Alexander Leathers Roadster jacket that was missing the pull chains on the top pockets, so on a lark I e-mailed Simmons Bilt Inquiring if they could possibly send me some replacements. Not expecting a reply for something so trivial, I got a response requesting my mailing address and they sent them out free of charge. That, my friends, is true customer service. I will be buying my next jacket from them!

That is good CS but I can one better you. I had my Aero j-106 that I purchased second hand, heavy storse and I busted the main pull. I complained and whined about it here in the jacket o' the day thread and Denny from Aero apologized and sent me two replacements! They actually contacted me first.

Wow that's pathetic of them to do that.

Good customer service to a neutral or happy customer doesn't forgive poor treatment of others. The true mark of someone is how they treat theirvenemies.

They are watching every post in here.
Last year during their special sale of their old stock jackets, I was complain there were nothing really special, the whole event was more like a hoax, because I got up in 3am and find nothing.
They instantly (no more than 10 minutes I recalled) find my Facebook page and send me a message ask me why I am not satisfied?

Don't take me wrong, they are not blaming me for my comments, they just friendly asked me what exactly people are looking for?

Somehow I felt little weird and uncomfortable afterwards, why they contact me via my FB account??

I think people around here got their hopes way up out of proportion to what was offered at that sale.

From what I gathered at the time, there were a lot of people States-side sitting up, waiting for the sale to go on line, and hoovered a lot of the main bargains early doors. By the time I got to the factory later in the morning, though not that much later, there was not much left in my size. I do think that people were a bit of over optimistic as to what was going to be on offer. Perhaps they hoped for a repeat of the previous Aero trial sale, and were subsequently disappointed that it wasn't the same parade of new and nearly-new stuff.
As for customer service, I think posting a couple of pull-chains to replace some fault metalwork is really entry-level stuff in this game, and I cannot think of a single maker who would not do that as a matter of course. It's when you get to the point where you're replacing steer jackets that were mis-sold deliberately by a thieving ex-employee as being horsehide, even though there was no legal requirement for you to do so, that's when you're into top-league customer service. Jus' sayin'.

Some years ago Denny from Aero sent me a replacement Talon zipper pull and a couple of stoppers for a 25 year old second hand Highwayman I bought at a car boot when I posted on here asking where I might get a replacement. I thanked him of course but didn’t think it worth starting a thread to let people know how good their customer service was as anyone who reads stuff on here and VLJ already knows that. I’d expect any quality maker to do the same and from what I’ve read here and elsewhere most do. I’d also be more interested to read of ‘higher’ things ref the customer service of manufacturers as Sloan suggests above.

Haters will hate and be very vocal about it, but Simmons Bilt has a good customer service. Heck, SB could find a cure for cancer and arrange world peace on top of sending zip pulls but still it would take about 2 mins before the usual suspects around here would be screaming ”remember Storse!”.

Storse had nothing to do with SB Jejupe although one of it's founders did do the dirty deed while he was manager of Aero. Later Ken at Aero found the mess, took a loss, and made good on all the mislabeled jackets. SB never discovered a cure for anything since they have only been interested in stealing Aero patterns and making them their own. Yeah..you could call me one of the usual haters since SB tried to ruin Aero and put them out of business. If Ken Calder hadn't have stepped back in within the nick of time SB/Alex Leather might have accomplished their goal. Nothings changed on that front. Guess they have a couple good attributes..they will send out zipper pulls and offer such wonderful customer service.

No, we don't. Really, posting a thread to congratulate SB on being able to send a couple of zip pulls is pretty small beer by anybody's standards. Here's a topic: what examples do Loungers have of makers really going above and beyond when it comes to customer service?

Just this morning, Shawn of Five Star Leathers (Pakistani outfit entering into budget repros on VLJ) offered me a full refund for a jacket due to a minor complaint I had with an order), without even asking for the jacket back. I declined as I felt it kind of low to do. But that's service going WAY beyond.

That's an extreme case, but I've always been treated well by Carrie and also Alan at Johnson.
