You boys wouldn't believe it! Found this at an antique store...

Perfect fit at 7 3/8", 2 5/8" brim, and... Unbashed...

The colour didn't come out right in the photograph. It's a light brown and the ribbons are a gray with a tinge of green.

Now, to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the thin ribbon. I'm thinking of having it replaced but I'll also consider a trade for a similar hat with wide ribbon.

If I keep it, should I have it professionally bashed (i.e. blocked with steam)? Or just do it myself and let it remain somewhat loose?

Great find!

Much as i dislike thin ribbons, i would advise against replacing it. Swap it or exchange it or sell it; don't vandalise it.

Please don't change the ribbon that hat is a true treasure. I haven't seen one like it. That sweatband is very cool! Can you please post a photo of the inside of the hat? I would love to see the markings at the top of the crown.

If you don't like it, it's worth around $300 to someone. After hitting 2 antique malls and around 10 antique shops covering about 275 miles today, all I got was a seatbelt violation ticket - because the trooper was nice enough to let me out of the speeding violation.
