Here's a neat set of patterns from the April 1951 issue of Woman's Day:

And I just had to post this picture from the wood polishing ad beside it, 'cause her hair cracked me up:

I bought this today for $2 at Jo-ann's. My grandmother wanted me to make her an apron because she said all her shirts were getting ruined. Errrr -- so, yea. I had to make the most unpractical apron ever. And it's very attractive! She'll probably not want to wear it because it's too nice lol

My husband and I are trying to buy a house. We went to see one yesterday and it was full of vintage sewing stuff including some very impressive patterns. The person who owned the house is deceased and I am now in the awkward position of wanting to ask my realtor to get me in touch with the family so I can purchase some items of a non-realestate nature. I mean I could just buy the house and ask them to include that stuff. You know it's a problem when you are considering buying houses because they have old sewing patterns in them :p What are your opinions? Should I forget about it and just worry about houses or ask my realtor to take the time to forward my contact info to the sellers?

MarieAnne, it shouldn't be a problem to see if you can get the family's contact info. Ask about whether they will be holding an estate sale, and express your interest in the patterns. If the family doesn't plan to keep them, they'll probably be quite happy to find someone who'll love them as much as the dear departed. :)

I may get rid of the middle pattern as I don't think it will be flattering on me.
