Lady Day, I'm suffering from pattern lust! Go you! Those are gorgeous!

I have decided that my mom is making me a 1930's even gown for Christmas. I am watching a few patterns on ebay. I am not sure which one to purchase yet. I'll post a pic once I make up my mind.

I can't believe I bought fabric for a pattern I don't own yet! In a couple months, we will be traveling and plan on having dinner with someone I haven't seen in a while and want to knock his socks off. It's been a struggle to find a dress that was flattering and hot without being too sexy (hubby will be going with me and I know he doesn't want me looking too sexy). I've been grabbing up patterns from ebay each time I see one that is ok. So far, I haven't been really thrilled with them. They'll make cute dresses, but none seem to be the perfect dress. I finally found the perfect pattern. When I bought my taffeta, I also got some really sweet lilac cotton for only $2 per yard. This dress will be perfect. The problem? The auction has 4 days to go. I've put a high limit, cause I really want this pattern, but I've been seeing pattern go up and up. Please think good ebay luck thoughts for me!

I will be thinking good ebay thoughs for you. I hope you get the pattern. And at $2/yd for the fabric, you could spend a little more than you normally would for the pattern too. That helps. Good Luck

Oh, noes! I'm winning, but over night, the bidding went up to within a dollar of my top bid, with 2 days to go. I guess I'm going to have to decide if this dress really is THE perfect dress for the occasion.

You could also browse to see if there is another one out there. Oddly, I've noticed that sometimes a few copies of a pattern will pop up at the same time. [huh] I find it easiest to search using just the pattern number. Good luck!!

So far, so good! Keep your fingers crossed. I found another one that is similar with no bids yet, but the auction ends an hour for my "perfect one". I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow before placing a bid on it.

It's now at $26, which is passed my max bid of $20. It ends tonight, so I have time to think about it, but I don't think I can justify paying more than $20 for it.

I just won a couple from eBay. The second one is a bathrobe/dressing gown. What an elegant look for first thing in the morning!

I have that first pattern too, except its in a size 15 1/5 and so I've not made it 'cause I don't feel like sizing it up.

I'm sorry Kamimat about the one you are bidding on. Maybe you'll find it for less at another site, or keep an eye out for it and see if you can get it cheaper next time. Do you reckon you can find one similar in one of the current big 4 pattern company selections. They do have some great vintage and vintage inspired patterns out right now. I just checked the bay, and I think I see the dress you were bidding on and wow, it really is unique. I can't think any modern pattern will have those details. Bummer. Sorry for your lose Kamikat, just know there's a better pattern out there for you.

Here's the one that got away. It went for over $50.

Here's one I found that has a similar neckline, but is two piece. I think it's an ok substitute and I got it for less than $10. I've looked everywhere that I know of for the first one, but can't find it anywhere.

I also got this one from the same seller. I think the blue version will make a great Easter dress, either with an added sleeve or a cardi.

Oh Kami, you're just going pattern crazy, huh? You've got some really great ones. I love the one you got to replace the one that got away from you. In fact, I think I like it better than the $50 one. I love that neck detail and the two-peicedness (new words should be invented all the time, right?).

Well, all my size 40s and 38s are too big. I have to replace them with 36s, right? Plus, I'm looking for the perfect dress. Something that will knock out an ex, while at the same time not cause hubby to want to throw a blanket over me to cover me up

Does anyone else find they tend to get in shopping moods and buy several of the same sort of pattern at once? I bought, like 5 or 6 forties shirt dress patterns with some different details, but I've only made up a couple because they are shirt dresses and therefore require buttons and thus button holes :shudders: Now that I see some of KamiKat's purchases, I'm really wanting some fifties party dress patterns.

Those Butterick patterns are great. Also nice haul Lady Day! I'm going to enrol for an evening Clothes Making course which starts in January, I'm really looking forward to it! I haven't used a sewing machine since Textile lessons in school and I need to learn the basics all over again.

I adore this coat! I think I just saw deep green ultrasuedish (they call it Moleskin) at Joanne (I know what you mean by the evil salespeople, a far cry from Britex!), so there you go...
I would love to make this in a faille kind of fabric for rainy weather! Any chance of it going to the Pattern Swap thread? I am way behind on copying but will get on it, I promise...

Thanks for the tip on the Moleskin (love the Moleskin!) too. I have about 3 things in various stages of construction; I should really finish those before starting a new project though. Maybe over the holiday vacation I can finish them up.

SEVERAL times. Somehow I had three female friends, all different heights, yet they all fit into the pattern I owned!
I have the original too, not the bond-paper reprint.
It's a great pattern; the only thing to watch out for is the seat rise- some women don't have a tall enough waist area. Also be willing to add length to the legs- it can't hurt, you can always trim off excess.
The halter/bib top was a bit annoying, but that's because I don't know much about women's garment tops.

The pattern is EASY. At least the pants. Two fronts, two backs, belt, two button facings. E-Z. I've been lucky and not had to alter much, but even when I did one time, I just took an inch out of the seat rise.

And YES, I promise everyone, I will get pictures taken soon! I need them for my own "portfolio" anyways....
