Makes me want to post some Hollyvogue's of my own...

Darn you! You made me got to the bay and check a few vernable old tie labels. I walked away with two for $4:

It's close enough to Saint Patrick's Day to show a few of my vintage green ties (none of which have a St. Patrick theme). All of the ones here are from the late '20s to the early '50s, shown in no particular order. The majority are from the '30s.

It's a Sulka & Co. silk tie from the 1930s.

Yeah, the Corsair is not a very good picture at all. The bucks are, well, the bucks.
So where are your Hollyvogue ties?

I actually have several of those. I have the exact same horse tie, the black and red/orange stripe tie etc. The black stripe/check I have in blue instead of black. Interesting.

No, there's no moire action on that one. Sulka didn't make all of their ties out of moire silk; they also made printed ties, handpainted ties, brocade silk ties, etc.

Thanks! The blue one is actually blue/green. The far left one is a wonderfully detailed handpainted number from occupied Japan. The one on the second from right shows a variety of air and hydraulic tanks and pumps. (I'm not kidding.)

It must have been an advertising tie, made for a manufacturer or distributor of tanks and pumps.

I like that Tricot tie, Feraud! I wish I had one. It says extra long, but I'm thinking that if it's mid-'50s, then that would be about 54". Am I close?

At least we know that the patent goes back to 1950. Interesting to think that 52" was considered extra-long at the time.
