foxes and cheese! what's all that about then? I think I'd wear that one just for reactions...sweet!

It is rather a strange tie! When I bought it, I bought it simply because, well, foxes are cool; I later realized it's based on this fable: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fox_and_the_Crow_(Aesop)

"In the fable a crow has found a piece of cheese and retired to a branch to eat it. A fox, wanting the cheese for himself, flatters the crow, calling it beautiful and wondering whether its voice is as sweet to match. When the crow lets out a caw, the cheese falls and is devoured by the fox."

A warning against flattery... so if anyone compliments the tie while I'm wearing it, I'll be very weary of their motives!!

Yet another Haband! And that Yellowstone print has some great colors.

Here's a couple, by the same company, both featuring foxes! Circa 1930's I think. Tags read "By Donegal, Cohama California Swagger" and both have union tags.

First one with a motif of the Aesop fable "The Fox and the Crow" - complete with a wedge of cheese!

Second one features red foxes jumping around what appear to be a herd of little yellow lambs. Run lambs, run!

Two great Cohama ties! I was recently given a '50s fox and grapes tie which I'll be posting as soon as I can gently wash it.

Cohama was a great company that dealt not only in ties but in material with great patterns that you could make into anything from drapes to tablecloths and clothing. The ties were top notch and whimsical at times. Those were good finds. I hope you got them at a good price too.

Wilson Brothers was another great tie company. The Yellowstone Prints were inspired by the colors and features of Yellowstone if I remember correctly. I can see the colors and patterns in this tie.

Cohama was a great company that dealt not only in ties but in material with great patterns that you could make into anything from drapes to tablecloths and clothing. The ties were top notch and whimsical at times. Those were good finds. I hope you got them at a good price too.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. My father majored in textiles in college, so I guess it's in my blood, being attracted to vintage fabrics and such.

Was a great conversation with vintage dealer Roberto telling me about differences and details of ties of the 1930s and the ties of the 1940s

Roberto wouldn't steer you wrong. Hollyvogue is one of my favorite manufacturers. They ran the gamut from hand painteds all the way to rep tie patterns. They certainly had flair either way. Both ties are good choices.
