Interesting finds

Went to the Portland Antique Expo today and picked up this vintage New Old Stock tie iron. My friend who
knows a lot about vintage appliances said that by the looks of the plug and cord it's at least from the 40s.

I also picked up these two handpainted ties.

Tie on left, no label, machine stitching, no liner, very short length, possibly from the 1920's.
Tie on right, Mister Slim reg. no. 618,278 rayon knit of unkown age. Possibly '50s-early '60s. Bought for my friend.

Yes, the tie on the left looks possibly from the '20s. How long is it?

Thanks for the confirmation. My friend said it could even possibly be 30s but definitely 40s. It must have been stored in a very dry place, the box and iron look almost new.

It's about 45 inches long give or take.

Figured that a possibility. Pant waists were cut higher in the '30s, so shorter ties would make sense. A '30s necktie is still treasure to me

Last one's hard to see in the pic, it says "PS Silient Construction" "Towncraft DeLuxe" "Cravat" "Fabric Loomed in USA"

^^Those all appear to be vintage, Tom. I think I still have one Nu-Way tie; they're not rare to find, yet still not very common. Regarding the Towncraft (one of my favorite lines), I believe that it says "Resilient Construction," which refers to a process developed in the 1920s. How about some photos of the front blades?

Excellent find indeed! I really must get one of those.

Thanks, in doing some research I saw an ad in a 1930 Popular Mechanics mag for one just like this one. It's probably from sometime in the 30s based on the type of plug used on it. I'll have to experiment using it on some ties I won't mind getting ruined if I don't do it right. I plugged it in and it gets pretty hot, too hot to touch with a bare hand.

Just bought some Frank Lloyd Wright ties, now these are not vintage as far as I can tell, I can buy them at various sites, but the price was right on ebay (3 for $30.00) and the fact that they're based on Frank LLoyd Wrights works really intrigues me.

Sort of new ties with the vintage feel.

I don't have them yet, so I cannot speculate on the quality, I know they're made in Italy so hopefully they're decent. What do you all think?
