That Prince Igor is on time. I love those thin, subdued space age models.

The fish tie brings back memories of a trip to New Orleans many, many years ago, and a buddy's quest to find one of those.

Thanks Dale. How did the quest turn out?
Honestly I don't remember if he ever found one or not. It was back in the 80s, and we'd gone down around Mardis Gras time. We went in what felt to my hurricane soaked mind like hundreds of little gift shops, and they all said they'd 'sold out last summer'. I guess the novelty fish tie market is (or was) a strong one.

Has this thread been opened up to non-vintage ties, as well? It'll be an interesting thread to peruse.

I've seen enough of 'em to guess it's o.k.

It's fine by me, anyway. Post away. With all the messed up stuff going on in the world today, if someone gets offended by the sight of a brand new necktie......well.....Lord help 'em.

A nice pair of ties there Bob. Can't get enough of wool tartan or madras.

My haul from last weeks 25 cent sale day. Nothing vintage or special, but it did fill a couple of color gaps in my collection.

7-8 months ago, I bought my first tie in 10 years. I had 2 total.

Since then, I've been frequenting the tie section in the Salvation Army locally and this happened:

That's the second layer, I have about 120 total. Mostly Brooks Brothers and better. I have determined I have a few favorite brands. Faconnable ties I've found have been excellent. I don't see a lot about JZ Richards but I like their ties, as well. I have found a dolcepunta 7 fold tie that is fantastic. I lean towards preferring heavy weight silk ties that create substantial knots.

^ Excellent haul. Your taste in ties is very similar to my own. Simple stripes, solids and classic patterns. I too tend to favor Brooks Brothers in my hunts.

Some nice classic ties, Dnewma04!
Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like many 90's-00's -stuff and some 80's?
Do you prefer this period or is it just the construction/material in that time?

I started by getting basic colors, patterns, or things that caught my eye. Then I found some some ties with textures rather than smooth silks, and I started focusing more on construction, weight, and materials.
