Show us your TIES

I was finally able to visit the thrift store where the 85-cent ties live. There were quite a few vintage ones. No real treasures and many of them were filthy, badly damaged (machine washed wool for example) or moth-eaten. I came home with ten, but a few of these will need a bath and some pressing.

Scooooore!!!!

Nice haul, Bob! I dig 'em all, but I'm really feeling the texture on that first one.

Great socks, too! 99% of the time I'm in boots or high top Chucks, but I could find an occasion to lay out the loafers or wingtips a little more often if I had some fine men's hoisery like that.

Great finds Jamesmac 1801! That Hollyvogue palm tree model is absolutely top shelf!! That one's a real prize. As shown in your photo, a tie like that can really take an already great look to the next level of cool.

Great to see the felony fliers too. My footwear of choice for kicking around the house. (And even for running around the neighborhood sometimes.)

Thanks . I really love the holly vogue tie . It's the shortest tie I own so far at 45 inches . 40s ties are by far my favorite . Hard to find where I live most of the thrift stores around here are full of 90s , 80s and 70s ties. I really like my 60s Stetson open road too.

Yeah, same here. 40s and 50s ties in the thrift stores are a rare thing. Even the big old wide polyester 70s ones are getting scarce.

And as for the shortness, I'm 6' 3" and have an 18 1/2 neck, so the definitely are a little short on me. Sometimes I tie them with the back part really short and just tuck it in my shirt. And sometimes I just don't care and wear 'em short.

The Open Road is killer!

Thanks herringbonekid on the more specific dates and the similar advertisement for that early tie I found.

Nice finds everyone! Along with everyone else, I'm quite envious of that "Monterey Palm" jamesmac1801 !!!

In regards to height I can definitely relate -the ties I love most often come up short...
...thus giving me all the more reason to wear double breasted suits! (As well as three-piece suits)

To keep you all in suspense, I have a two more recent finds from the early 20th century that I hope to have photographed and posted soon. (along with a couple other odds & ends)

Great ties jamesmac1801 -- the Monterey Palm is killer! Love the OR as well.

I have made a few attempts at wearing these short ties with no jacket and just can't get past the "clown" look. Being fat and mostly torso doesn't help. I still love them though!
Bob.......

big belly + short loud tie = babe magnet

Great find! A really nice lot. That red and white check one in the middle really jumps out at me.
