Again, don’t give them to me. I can’t get rid of skinny 50s ties on eBay to save my life. Last time I tried, someone got a dozen of the damned things off me for a whole buck. :doh: That is when I figured they would look better on the tomato vines than for a buck for a dozen boring ties. They offset the green nicely.

Today at the local thrift shop I hit the boring jackpot.

The two Botanies are wool, the Wembley is Nor-East mystery fabric.

They make a very nice western style shorty when tied with a Windsor knot.

I literally see those woolies all the time in my tie quests........:doh: They must have made millions of the damned things and warehoused them because no one bought them. lol lol

Another good find (as usual). The pink tie is a real beauty.

deadstock Edwardian - 20s tie, probably from a sports / college outfitter.

the tie is only 36" long which means if tied with a four-in-hand there's only 7" of drop left.

I just found an ad on the 'local ebay' with an incredible LOT of early 1900's ties. Unfortunately they have just been sold and the seller forgot to update his ad. Argh!
I suppose the pictures are still interesting for reference:

He does still have the 'long ones' left, 72 of them. Not sure if I can tell their age from this picture (hopefully he can send some more). The red/white stripe in the bottom-right does look 30's, judging from the contruction..? And there are two knit ties....

Difficult to tell anything from that photo. There are certainly a few interesting ones in there.

I think the skinny silver one in the top row is a 1950s/1960s East German tie. I'm sure I have exactly the same tie somewhere at home.

I see in the pictured lot maybe five or six 30-40's ties. Most appear to be 1950-60's. Several might be 70's and later.
Difficult to tell from the photo.

I like those 1900s ties, it's too bad someone here did not get them, but I hope whoever has will wear them. I know I would, from time to time, even if most of them are clip ons. That's another thing I'm surprised about, though, how it seems that so many Edwardian ties that have survived are clip ons.

Does anybody know what standard 1890s and 1880s ties looked like? I know there are plenty of photographs with men wearing them, but what about the actual ties themselves? Does anybody here have one they believe to be Victorian era, or are there pictures of just the ties?

I should point out that the later vintage ties are very fine looking, as well!

Vintage ties seem to be drying up in my town but I finally found a few today after too long of a wait.

I can never pass up a palm tree tie but I especially like the way this one goes with my denim shirt which has kind of very subtle striping that matches that in the tie.
