Paid $7 for what I hope are 1950s shoes. Walk over saddle shoes from the 50s are mostly nubuck; these are smooth leather. But the construction and laces are similar to 1950s. Anybody know if they're 50s or not?

Had another good weekend at the local yard sales. I found this complete set of MacIntosh Matson Lines menu covers for 50 cents. I was quite amazed when I googled them after bringing them home and found that a complete set goes for $500 to $1,000 depending on condition. This morning I framed them in dollar store frames and hung them up. Not bad for $8.50.

Just found 3 mint condition (apparently all owned by the same dearly recently departed fellow) 1960s Brooks Brothers wash and wear suits in my size.....My exact SIZE! I got them for $30., TOTAL! The girl at the counter said she liked my suit and told me that it looked like it was my half-price day! YES! All are 3 button 2/Roll 3 SB with single venting, 2 button cuffs, and of course notch lapels; basically your classic No.1 Sack, but the trousers are rather trim, and no cuffs or pleats, beyond high-rise, and they all have flapped pockets, of course, with a welted breast pocket at a slight tilt, almost no structuring whatsoever (none needed considering), and all simply lined only in the upper shoulders, sleeves, and just behind the lapels to half of the interior breast pockets. 1st suit is avocado green with over-stitched patch pockets, 2nd suit is solid jet black, and 3rd suit is mid gray towards charcoal with pearl gray pin-stripes! All have an identical finish to a YSL suit that my Father had from the 1970s, that was mohair wool blend, so almost like a shiny flecked fine grain sand-paper finish as to texture, the hand is stiff, but no too stiff, and they breath surprisingly well. I wouldn't hesitate to wear them in up to 100 degree Fahrenheit weather, but anything over that might be a tad unpleasant, at least for a prolonged period. I'll post pictures up soon! I also recently came upon what I figure is likely a late 1930s to early 1940s Spanish suit, in deep royal/bright navy blue worsted, double inverted pleated trousers, SB, 3 button, notch lapels, single vented and cuffed. Gorgeous workmanship, and the pick-stitching for the interlining peaks through at points behind the gently rolling lapel. It fits! Pics to come! Oh, and a Hollywood Drape suit with no waist-band, dropped narrow belt loops, double pleats, and DOUBLE BREASTED 3X2 , of English Worsted wool (the label even declares it!), made in Canada, it is a super rich and deep almost Royal Blue! It is however just slightly too long for me. and may be a 39R, whilst I am a 38S. I'll be trying to sell it :/ Pics to come! I'll try and get them up tonight! All of these pics! I also found some other assorted suits, but I'll address those later as they aren't quite as exciting as the one's which I've mentioned here. I am planning on selling at least 5 of the most recent suits though. But I am reticent to try ebay. I'll see about posting up in the for sale section on here if anyone's interested.

Hey EE, I want to read your stuff but it is hard when you write such log slabs of words with no paragraphs or breaks. Maybe try a brief paragraph for each item so I can enjoy reading about your purchases.

63cm Bridgestone Kabuki from 1978. It had Suntour Cyclone parts but while swapping some old junk wheels for modern 36 spoke aluminum wheels, I converted it to more modern drive train. It's now an 18 speed with SRAM Apex long cage derailleur. The down tube shifters will be replaced by some thumb shifters since I swapped the drop bars for trekking bars. And, of course, every bike needs a Brooks. Rode for an hour today and all is well. :)

Here's a couple finds from last Saturday. One dollar each. I hope I do as well when I go out tomorrow. View attachment 82736
A 60s vintage Swagerty Kook-A-Lā-Le Uke. It was designed so you could plunge that long neck into the sand when you want to go out for a surf session.

Some really old aviator sunglasses. The delivery label on the box just has the person's name and the small town they lived in. I guess there was no need for an address in a really small town. If there's anybody knowledgeable about who made these I'd love to know.

The Aviators sure look like vintage Ray Bans with that Bakelite trim piece on top.
