I cant get the housing all the way off due to the fact that the light/dark lever is connected quite firmly to the timing mechanism. I was only able to lift the opposite sidf of it high enough to replace the cord. I cant figure out how to detach the time lever yet though...If anyone has a clue about that please let me know...

The knob on my earlier model was sheered off when I bought it, so I didn't have to worry about it. (I picked a damaged one on purpose since I was turning it into a lamp). Anyway, looking at the stump on the mechanism doesn't give many clues. It looks like it might have been either ribbed or threaded, but I'm not sure. I'm doubtful it was screwed on since it's a knob but it could be. Glue seems likely, but you'd think, given the era in which it was built, you'd be able to take it apart for repairs.

A better photo of my new razor (on the left). Freshly honed and stropped.

Both of these items I picked up last Saturday at a local thrift store.

I think I`m becoming hooked on finding wardrobe(and other)bargains at Thrift and/or Consignment Stores!

This evening I got a dark brown (coffee color) very thin, lightweight trench coat for $14.00 that is super soft and comfy. No mfg.`s label at all (only a MADE IN USA label).

http://s650.photobucket.com/albums/...re Finds/?action=view&current=brntrench01.jpg

Trench Coat number 2...yeah...I know. This is a Stafford (by J.C.Penny`s) classic styled navy blue trench complete with liner and was my size and only $9.99 so I snaged it. The only flaw is a missing left sleeve belt.

Also some misc. dress shirts for 2-3 bucks a piece one silk scarf (made in Japan)for $0.97 and one silk pocket square (made in Italy) for $0.66.

Hard to pin down its age - this style of pilot's briefcase has been around for at least 50 years, maybe more. I still see them in use occasionally by older airline pilots, but most seem to have gone to similar cases in boring black nylon.

The interior is divided into two thin compartments in the front (just the right size for a laptop in a wetsuit sleeve) and one large compartment.

This one is in really nice condition. The only real flaw is where the stitching has failed on a section of the back bottom seam, but it's easy enough to re-stitch it by hand, which I plan to do this weekend.

Pair of vintage Deco chairs for $7. Probably '40s or '50s.

DSCN3811.jpg

vintage-look sofa from Craigslist, but it was made in China

bb3.jpg

unlacquered solid brass bed with onyx, '80s reproduction, but is steel reinforced and really high-end custom, bought from Craigslist 350 miles away, but was dirt cheap. :) That's the seller's photo. I'll have a better bedding set on it after I get moved.

Lacquered solid brass headboard with white marble, w/ frame -- $80 on Craigslist. It's probably a Swan / Corsican, but it very high end of their line. Not as heavy-built as the other one.

Oak rocker for $20, what-not shelf for $10, "blonde" oak coat rack for $5, at a curbside antique sale in a little town. The sale was held at an old '20s gas station building.

FREE! Here is a sofa and matching sofa chair that I rescued from the landfill today. I can't see a label anywhere. It's solid wood. The cushions are in great shape, just need vaccuming. Anyone have any ideas regarding it's age?

The Mission style oak rocker is fabulous. Possibly Arts and Crafts era. I said possibly.

The sofa possibly 1940s Empire style.

Furniture is not my forte. I am mostly a general dealer.

All nice finds though.

Does anyone know where I might find a label on my sofa?

Usually is attached to the sofa, under the cushions. But if you have lifted them off and there's no tag, it might be on the underside. Or, the sofa and chair may have been recovered, and the tag removed. But they look original. '60s to early '70s, I would guess.
