Bought this about a week ago. Absolutely beautiful. But boy, it's been around the block a few times!

Went on a tour with my car club and found these. The lady's magazines are from 29 and 31 which fit in with my car club.

I also found this book on making window displays pay. I had to have it for the cool factor. there are instructions, dimensions and detailed instructions on using crepe paper and other items to build a display. It even goes through various themes and holiday displays.

Just the other day I stopped by the thrift store and got these 4 records. :D

Three of a Kind Polkas featuring Frankie Yankovic, Stosh & His Polka Tones, and Vic Zambrowski. Probably 1960s.

The Best of George Shearing Vol. 2 featuring George Shearing. I think this record is from 1969, but I could very well be wrong.

A 2 record set. MGM's Original and Authentic Recordings by Great Country & Western Stars featuring Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Jimmy Newman, Marvin Rainwater, Sheb Wooley/Ben Colder, The Osborne Brothers, Merle Kilgore, and Howdy Forrester. Probably mid-late 1960s.

Theme from a Summer Place by Billy Vaughn and his orchestra. This record was originally released in 1960, but I'm not sure if mine is a first edition or not.

Picked up a $4.00 bag of 14 vintage bandanas at the estate sale of a 96-year-old retired minister. They date from the '40s to the '70s. The coolest ones are the Levi's and I think these may be from the earliest printing based on the lack of an RN number and no printing of "made in the USA". This pattern has been reissued several times. There was even a printing by an Italian company with a $79.00 list price in the last year. You'll notice that I have a few other bandanas in the basket. No, I don't have a problem...

I've found some terrific stuff at thrift stores over the years and today's find has to rank as one of the most interesting. Poking through the single shelf of old 'vintage' books I came across a first edition hardcover of a book I had originally read as a teenager..."Private Army" by Vladimir Peniakoff. Peniakoff, better known as 'Popski' was the officer in command of Popski's Private Army in World War II. Not as well known as the LRDG or the SAS it was the same sort of unit, driving their heavily armed jeeps around, causing havoc behind German lines. Quite a unit.

What made this book exciting was the fact that it was signed by Popski himself and given to George Lee. Lee was a Canadian Lieutenant who commanded 'R Patrol' of Popski's Private Army from mid-1944 to May 1945. When I got it home I found that Lee had taped in the funeral program for Peniakoff's funeral from 1951. In addition I found an original photograph of a group of 42 PPA troops in the back of the book, as well as clippings about Peniakoff's death and an interesting receipt from Fortnum and Masons for 6 pairs of boots dated October 1943.

Amazing things can turn up in thrift stores.

neat finds books always can have stuff stored in them got a 40's history book and it had a little cardboard spin wheel in it that told you the states and thier capitols with facts on the newest addition Hawaii. It also had somebody's typed up history essay from the 50's/60's oddly enough.

Today I picked up these things at the thrift store! I also got some golf clubs, but I didn't photograph them.

Best Western ashtray. I originally thought it was from the 1960s, but I found out that if it says "Worldwide Lodging" under the logo then it's actually from either 1991 or 1992. On the other hand, it appears that Best Western used the same ashtray shape since the 1960s.

Very unusual Waterford Crystal art deco frame. I don't know when it's from. All I know is that it's probably made by Waterford crystal from some Google searches. I suppose it could have been made anywhere between the 1960s and the 1990s.

Today I stopped by an indoor flea market/thrift store/tag sale and bought these items after work. I later stopped by another similar store and bought a late 60s/early 70s General Electric alarm clock.

Late 50s/60s clip-on bow tie. Yellow diagonal stripes.

I don't think this tie blue tie here is vintage on second thought. When I got it I thought it was vintage, but now I think it's probably a 90s kids tie or something. No labels. 52" long. 3 1/2" wide.

Today I went around to various thrift stores and the flea market store. I picked up these ties. All the bow ties and all the ties besides the two Haband's ties are from the flea store. I even saw a 1960s suit at the flea store, but unfortunately it was 36 short. I also got a Swedish American Line ashtray which is probably from the 1960s, and a wall plate that says "God Bless Our Home" which was made in Japan. The wall plate is probably also from the 1960s.
