I would assume these are from the 70s! Fifty cents each. They make me laugh

Those are former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau glasses I think. When my brother was in college he was in a political debate against Trudeau.

These are items I received from my parents before they moved out of their house. This tapestry was my Great- great aunt's. She gave it to my Father and it vanished for awhile and then in an answer to prayer, mysteriously showed up at someone else's house.

The tea cart was my Grandmother's, then my Mother's.

This side table was my Mother's. It has scratch marks underneath where my Grandfather used to strike matches to light his pipe. Don't know the history of the clock, other than it has been in my family for years.

. The horse pictures are from a 1929 and 1928 calendar (the year of my Grandparent's wedding and my Mother's birth). Getting them framed.

I never heard of this brand, but I really don't know much about any of them. I have to google some research, but I was wondering if anyone here might know something about them? I found this yesterday for $10, working order. It had a "Make an offer" sticker on it, but I felt guilty trying to get it for less than that. ;)

My Mother had a (much later model) White sewing machine. It was a real work horse. Very reliable machines. Yours is a beaut!

Stopped by the local thrift on the way home from work and found this for $10:

(second picture's color is more accurate)

the only problem at all is that it's a tad snug around the middle, but that's being remedied ;)

incidentally I've never heard of Macar Clothes in Philly, anyone from the city know of this place? the name doesn't show up when I search

Congrats Achturn! :eusa_clap

That looks like a great find.

Good point about them usually being beaten up or Taft size (Taft was the largest US president). I have the same trouble but with the addition that if they aren't beat up or way to big they're way too small, like a teenagers size.

I'm sure there are, but since there aren't any places even remotely around me that means I'd be forced to mail the poor thing off to whoever does it, and the process wouldn't be inexpensive either I'm sure.

For all that I think it'll just be safer if I shrink wrap it or seal it up in some way and make sure I store it properly, at least then the damage won't progress past what's already been done.

I own a lot of antique books, the best way to preserve one is to put it in wax paper so it can still breath, plastic gets humidity and heat in it so it will end up moldy. good luck.

Picked this up today at the thrift store around the corner.

Vintage Bulova watch (not a very good photo though) ...

Wow. What kind of thrift store is this place? Of all the places I visit regularly, only one would have such a thing as that. At the others, I have to look through a whole lot of weeds to find the occasional flower.

Salvation Army store. They opened several months ago and it's only a 5-10 minute walk from my house. This one gets some pretty good stuff. I often go there 2-3 times a day.

BTW, how old would you say this watch is?
