New suit, would welcome any dating suggestions. There was a receipt in the pocket from 1937, that I am fairly sure was NOT for the suit. The length of the waistcoat, the shape of the lapels, the slanting breast pocket, the backwards facing shoulder seam, and the fancy fabric make me think late 1920s.

Very nice suit, Patrick. What a fabric! The cut looks like early 30s to me. The liner is rayon, isn't it? That would fit.

Fantastic suit and in incredible shape. Is it all wool as it almost looks to me like an early blend as if something else is woven in with the wool? And great fit, especially with today's skinny suit trend you would fit right into a modern business setting.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the switch to Rayon linings/vest backs circa 1930. The lining is most definitely rayon, so that settles it. Early 30's it is. Thanks Nik.

Very interesting fabric. Where did you find the suit?

Thanks TT! I plucked it from ebay, actually. The thrifting possibilities in Texas aren't great, so I'm forced to stalk the Internet.

Suit feels like wool, I think it's just an interesting weave that includes lovely light blue and red accents.

Thanks for your dating expertise gents!

I put this suit together. Nothing here is vintage, except for my grandfather's tie clip. The pants are Aris Allen black slacks. The jacket is a new Arrow herringbone suit jacket. I also got a grey fedora, but I will post pictures of it tomorrow. :D
