It bugs me when people make stupid comments like that. Like it matters if I want to wear a ball gown to work ;)

The last time someone made a snarky comment about why I was so "dressed up," I promptly responded by asking when they were planning on going to the gym. (The person in question was wearing one of those velour track suits to eat dinner in a restaurant!)

Don't let it get you down, I find the people that need to comment are usually the worst offenders.

"Want to learn the lost arts? Love vintage styling? Here's another great how-to book. This book is the Learn How book, original copyright of 1941, this is the 31st addition from 1951. This book originally cost 10 cents and is 50 pages long. It's in good vintage condition with mild foxing here and there to the pages.

This book teaches you all pictured! There are patterns for clothing, household items, and gifts."

I see! Thank you ladies. I do love that dress :)

That dress is definitely a day dress. People can be such slobs these days that any dress is 'dressed up' to them.

I find people are generally too afraid to say much to me when I'm in full vintage ensemble (1930s) It's pretty different from what you see, I suppose and most English people are too polite! Or else I get tentative, interested questions. No one has ever been outright rude to me, which is probably just as well!

I can't tell at first glance. Why don't you post these in the Can You Help Me Date This Item thread, if possible with some more pictures and detail on material and how they're made?
