I just got this cute little straw hat through the Vintage Blow Out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=280117718267&rd=1&rd=1

The seller says that it is from the 40s, but it almost looks like late 30s to me. What do you ladies think, when would you date the hat?

*cries* Ooh, that's too darling! And it's in MY size! I even have a search set up to pick out size 23's. I guess I didn't check yesterday!

And yes, I think it's late 1930s. My favorite years. *cries some more*

(Can you tell I think you got a fantastic deal?? :p )

I still can't believe it was only $5.99 and a size 23! I don't wear hats often, so I can never justify paying large amounts of money for them. I love when I find a good deal and can add to my small collection.

I really like the assymetrical design on the crown of the hat. The seller said it was a little dirty, but I think I can steam the hat to freshen it up and just gently clean off any spots. But, from the looks of the pictures, any spots or marks are minor.

I've been wanting a cute summer straw hat, I can't wait to get it. :)

I can't keep up with this thread! So, how about I add a little to it! More from that estate sale I went to last month. I am slowly sending things off to the dry cleaners. Some of the clothing I'm just to afraid to try to clean myself. :p The dry cleaners has done a beautiful job on the things I have taken him so far! Here are two more dresses that I bought for $10 bucks each. They cost about $20 to dry clean a piece. So, they are my 30 dollar dresses now. lol The black one with the bows will need to be altered on the shoulders because it's to big, but I think it will be worth doing. The other dress fits like a dream:)

Edit to add this sweet gab western shirt and pant suit! To bad I'm not skinny enough to wear it!

That western suit is amazing! I tried on a similar shirt a few weeks ago and was so gutted that it didn't fit.

This is only my third post to the lounge. You ladies have exquisite taste and amazing luck. The folks at work must be wondering by now what exactly it is that makes me drool as I sit at my desk! I just won these babies:

1940.jpg

The item description said they are screw-back, 1940's and in excellent condition. All I know is I fell in love. I also had to bow out of a Bakelite auction that got a little too steep for my pockets. It was a beautiful matching 'bundle of cherries' chocker and earring set. The last time I looked, the auction was at $243! They were gorgeous though. In any case, I am happy with my new earrings. :D

Cute! I see very similar ones crop up on Ebay quite regularly although they are usually clips without the red eye detail.

I'm afraid not hun, they have been SERIOUSLY cracking down on purchases from the states. If it is stated as worth more than £36 you will be taxed on the remainder, though I am sure they add more on. Plus they double the fees as bogus "handling" fees, meaning that the last thing I bought was a £50 dress, marked as a gift, but they charged me £8 customs and £8 handling. La-hame!

I think of it like, you wouldn't have got it in the UK anyway, or you'd have paid more so it's still worth it. It is utterly fabulous too!

Ah that's really frustrating - I hope the dress was worth it! The bag itself is under £35 (without shipping) so hopefully I won't be taxed? With the shipping and possible custom fees this bag may end up costing me a small fortune! Anyway, like you said I think it's worth it for this particular item as I know they are fairly collectible...I saw a similar one a while ago (2 poodles with the eiffel tower, so kitsch) for £170 over here. I can't wait to receive it! :D

Another great day at the thrifts! I actually hit one that I only do occasinaly due to the fact that they get very limited inventory. I decided on impulse to go and I am so happy I did!

First is the new age mod 60's dress that I got for under $10. It is way too big for me but am putting it on consignment to help pay for all the purchases I have made recently. :D

The color is amazing!

Close up of the dress. BTW: the entire outfit looks as if it were never worn.

A green brocade wiggle dress also under $10. I am keeping this one.

I needed a new summer purse and lucked out with this one. Total cost $4.00!

I saved the best for last. These shoes cost me $2.00 each! The church thrift store is the best place for shoes around here. I still can't get over them!

First pair is from a shoe store in Greece!

The 2nd pair are from Saks Fifth Avenue!!

Both pairs fit me! :eusa_clap

I was really excited when I saw it on the rack! It had luckily been wrapped and stored away so it didn't have damage to it like some off the other clothing in the lot. It sure did dry clean up nice!

Second request for a picture of you in this when you receive it--and tell me those are beaded pockets on the front! This just screams Barbara Stanwyck in The Lady Eve to me--so cool!

Wow, I take a break from this thread for a couple of days, I come back to find all you shop-a-holics loaded up with the greatest things!!!
Too many to list individually, but everything I have seen is amazing:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
You gals are good!!:D

I was trying to be good since the past month I've been on an ebay binge. But I couldn't pass up this circle dress. I don't have anything like it, and it's gonna be perfect for a week in Newport!

Thanks, Sarah. I just wrote to the seller asking her what gives because I paid priority mail shipping and it has been over three working days. I hope they'll arrive safely to their new home.
