Kimberly, don't you just love Savers!! :eusa_clap

Daisy, thank you. I was the only bidder on the Scotty pin so I was pleased about that. I'm looking forward to receiving it.

SarahB, cute bag, I love poodles. I hope customs don't charge you to much.

CherryRed, thank you. I looked for the apron in Hancocks Fabrics but there was none to be had so on the off chance I checked ebay and there is was for a reasonable price too.

just got back from a trip to Houston (remember the fab new luggage??) to meet my boy's parents... and I got to visit a handful of neat vintage shops!

bolero.jpg

Sweet little beaded/embroidered bolero... And I LOVE the tiny little pockets!

blackwhitedress.jpg

Not quite the right era for the Lounge... but the skirt was so fun, I couldn't resist!

blackdress.jpg

FINALLY a little black eyelet dress to call my very own!!!!!

and I need a little help dating this one, ladies:
browndress.jpg

Like all of the above, it looks much cuter on a body. If I was feeling less travel-gross right now, I'd model them... Paid eighty bucks total for the four, which is more than I'd usually spend, but still well worth it!

Hi Ladies,
I won these Kenneth Cole shoes the other day off ebay. I liked them so much that I got them in both black and brown, they were only $20.00 each :)

Wow, every time I check this thread it seems that there is more and more added to it. You gals are professional shoppers. I think we should all get together and write a book about how to dress really well without spending all your money!! I would definitely read a book like that.

Pink, I saw that suit on ebay tonight. It's really cute, I'm glad it went to a Lounge Lady who will treasure it:)

Rockapin, those shoes are great!! What a great price too. I love the style of them. Last year I got a pair similar in style to yours from Naturalizer, but I wish I had known about the ones you got, they have much more of a vintage feel to them than the ones I got. Mine don't have a platform, and the heel on the ones I have is narrower. I don't wear them all that often when I wear vintage clothes because they look to modern. Your's are much more accurate. Very cute!! I am envious.

Timorous, I like the little pockets on the blero too. You got a lot of great things. The last dress reminds me of mid to late 40's. I'm not really good at dating things, but the collar style and the sleeve length remind me of the 40's. Either way, I'm sure it will look lovely on you!

Here's what I won this evening. The Life magazine was $9.99, so that finally puts me in the $10 club. I know, it's not clothes, but I've seen other issues from the 40's go for a lot more. I really like this issue, not only because it is the fall fashion preview for 1947, but because it has some articles I'm very interested in having. I'm so psyched to finally own one, and I do hope that I will find more from the 40's and earlier.
I also won a very cute sweetheart pin, and a 50's dress with matching bolero. The dress will be big in the waist, but I figured I can take it in or cinch it with a belt. I'm just thrilled to have something that will actually be a little loose in the bust. Lately I've been wearing minimizing bra's, but they are so incredibly uncomfortable. So, I opted to buy a dress that would be a little too big, but I don't think it will look bad a little loose. I can always have it taken in, which is much easier than taking it out.

Pink that suit is super cute! I can just see you with a brown-eyed-susan flower in your hair!

Oh and thanks a lot Shooshoo, now I can't get the Blind Melon song out of my head!!

Wonderful buys girls!

I've bought a few things lately... a 30's-40's drop leaf table painted with the original chippy PINK paint! *JUST* what I have been looking for for years! $59 at the local resale shop! I wasn't going to go, but something lured me there, thank goodness!
I also bought a few vintage suitcases in a great blue-green shade.

And I don't remember if I told y'all about my chandelier for my dining room? Flea market, $20! I saw one like it on ebay that went for $100! Wooohooo!

Pink, how lucky of you!:) That swim outfit is beyond adorable and looks to be in excellent condition:eusa_clap !

Daisy, that dress is so cute, I love the pattern and colors, and especially the big belt that just POPS and completes the outfit! The collar on the bolero is very sharp, too, love it!

I won 2 of the 4 dresses I was watching last night, which isn't bad, I was a bundle of nerves thinking I wouldn't win anything, but I'm thankful I did. Only the second dress was described as perfect for a picnic, but I think they both have that quality, and I think the first one will be great for walks along the beach, where I'm going in 2 months.:D (Sorry, it's getting harder and harder for me to contain my excitement  )

I did also want to share something I won several days ago, it made me happy because they're my first ever pair of decorative stockings, and I thought they were pretty neat. They have little cocktail glasses and bubbles at the ankle.

LadyStardust... these stockings are a true find! They don't come up often. Alexis4u.com often sells stuff like this for $100+. Would it be horribly gauche for me to ask how much they cost?

Oh My Goodness LadyStardust those stockings are incredible!!! Wowza! Congrats they truly are a gem of a find:eusa_clap

I couldn't let this painted blouse go this morning. Very surprised I won it, but I think it was one of those situations where it ended at an odd time of day. It seems that auctions get a lot more bids if they end during the evening hours.

I wanted to let some of the ladies who asked about the VI dresses from ebay that I got them today.
They are all great. They seem to be well made, although the lining of the eyelet dress could be a bit longer. If you're in between sizes definitely go up. I got the wrap dress in a medium, thinking that since it was a wrap it would be roomy in the bust, but I really should have gotten a large and cinched it at the waist.I got The eyelet dress without the wrap in a large and it fits much better in the bust. I was worried that it would be too big in the waist since it didn't have a tie, but the waist has elastic in the back, so it's actually smaller than I expected. I think the larger measurements she put down were with the waist stretched. I love the dresses, but I like the length of the wrap dress better.
The two sundresses I got are perfect. They are 3% lycra, so they have just the right amount of stretch, in the right places:D

So, I recommend this seller (Bombshellvintage). Not only does she have great dresses, but she is a very nice woman and very helpful too:)

:eek:fftopic: Kitty, your avatar is a riot!!:D What a silly cat!!! I love it!

Wow, Daisy, that printed blouse is wonderful, I just love it! My mom had something similar when I was a kid, maybe that is why I like it so much. Great purchase!

Very lovely jumper, and I feel the same about compliments from elderly ladies, the other day my...well I don't know how I would put her, she's my uncle's mum, so my cousin's grandma...but she said how much she loved my trousers and wished she could find some that were high waisted. So I told her about teh repro lady I got mine from - could mean I'm getting ladies who grew up in the 40s back into the fashions!

Aww, thanks! I've worn them every day this week. And I love that sweater. It's a gorgeous color, and lots of cute detail. I'm in love.
