That hat is seriously the best thing i have found, aside from my black velvet jesus painting. Haha. It's in absolutely perfect condition, i saw it, snatched it and upon later inspection before purchasing found it to only be $0.98, I was tickled! It is made by a company called Betmar, I haven't been able to track down any hats that look like it, but a few that I've come across are made with similar straw so I am thinking 50's, possibly 60's. I love the fact that it looks like an acorn cap! It is just too dang cute!!

My Goodwill is real hit and miss some times, but such are all things of that nature I suppose. I rarely have any luck with the clothing side of the store, that dress, a full slip, my new favourite leopard print cardigan and an absolutely gorgeous coat with a lovely wide mink collar(which sadly does not fit me, but for $20 I couldn't leave it there, I have to take some pictures) are the only real luck with clothing that I've had, also, the shoes, me being an 8-8.5 which is pretty much the standard foot size these days, you have to have unusually itty bitty feet, or giant boat feet to find shoes it seems.

Here's my latest ebay purchase, a bakelite mah jong bracelet. I see quite a few of these around but many don't seem to be made from bakelite, but this one *should* be... let's wait and see!

My theory on vintage shoes (and why so many available these days are ittybitty) is because the "regular" sizes were worn until they had holes in their soles. That or.. I don't know! Hahaha

Yes, agree on the shoes. Not everyone had tiny feet - it's just the tiny ones haven't been able to be worn by many people and worn out! From my experience most UK women seemed to be size 4 - 5 or US 6 - 7 back in the 30/40s.

I'm a US 8 1/2 - 9 and I have quite alot of pairs of vintage shoes from the 30s/40s. But you do have to look and look and look, even when you go to as many vintage fairs, shops and shows as I do, as well as shopping on-line!

Women definitely had smaller feet then, and smaller everything else! In the UK the average shoe size in the 70's was a 5 but by the early 90's it was a 6, work that backwards whilst factoring in the post war diet and you can see why many of the sizes are so small.

Both of my Grandmothers (born 1918 and 1926) remember wearing snug shoes as long as possible when growing up because they couldn't afford new ones. They always wore snug shoes, and their feet never had a chance to expand. They both had extremely narrow feet (something I've inherited), but were still around a size 6. I just bought a pair of 1920s shoes which are probably around a size 8 AA (they're a little too long, but the width actually fits!)

I had to laugh when I saw the tag from the last outfit I posted "Sportempos has that Suburbia Look!" - I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean but it made me smile anyway!

Almost makes me think of foot binding... only not as extreme..
I envy you for having narrow feet, I've inherited the opposite... stubby, small but extremely wide feet. My toes look like someone just chopped them with a butcher's knife. Hahaha.

I thought I would just chime in on the foot thing - I am an English size 7 (I think that's a US 9? It's definitely a Euro 41!), and so is my Grandma, who was born 1939. She said it was VERY hard for her to get shoes, and she said she seems to remember my Great-Grandma getting them made especially for her.
