Love your finds swinggal, especially the hat, that's a miracle to have a veil intact.

Went to an antique fair this weekend and got a few things.

Late 30s felt tilt hat. The amazing thing is that the veil is totally perfect. I love the contrast of the pink flower.

Purchased today at the car boot sale in Chirk, North Wales, it was one of the last stalls I looked at, I was amazed it was still there. But I suppose your average car booter wouldn't know what they were looking at.

1930's Beach pyjama's.

I just bought 'Fashion is our Business' by Beryl Williams (1948). Apparently it features interviews with several American designers of the period, so should make for an inspiring read!

Poggleberry, those green pajamas are UNREAL! WOW!!! I love absolutely everything about them- the color, the print, the lacing at the neck. Yum!

Ms Sew-n-Sew, I think that book has to go on my wish list. Good find!

Thankyou so much for all your lovely comments, I can't believe an item of clothing I've bought has ever got that reaction. I knew they were special, and I stupidly walked off in the hope that the seller would reduce his price, couldn't bear to miss out on them so I immediately turned round and paid the man £14 (he gave me £1 off), yes I know that's a measley amount but I can't help bartering.

Lauren, I loved one of your Blog posts back in February about Beach wear and beach pyjama's have been on my wishlist since then, but I never thought I'd ever find any, thanks for inspiring me. They are dreamy and I love all the whimsical detailing.

I just got these cocktail markers from my barter forum. Now, I just need the matching glasses.
Did you use such things in the US, or are they a German/European thing?

I also got some new fabric that's from the fifties, as well. Yay!

Now I got to make up my mind what to make of it. It should be enough for a day dress with small matching blouse/jacket.
l definitely want something with white piping, but that's pretty much all I know so far.

I love the 'swizzle sticks' wahine. Very cool. I have a collection of them too but that is an awesome set.

Yeah, I just had to have them with the piggy and mushroom (fly agaric is for good luck in Germany) and all. I don't even really drink cocktails at home. Maybe that's a reason to start...
And I learned a new word today: swizzle stick
(now I hear Grace Jones singing in my head "hit me with your swizzle stick!")
