I love how that hat matches the coat so well. I love when finds come together like that.

I really got lucky with that hat in more ways than one. It was an ebay purchase and the seller had posted pictures that were pretty awful, so I didn't know what I was going to get. It was mentioned that the hat had a "decoration" but it wasn't shown. It was one of those purchases where the postage was more costly than the item.

So the hat arrives and I was really pleased with it--great condition, older than I thought it would be, etc., but it was the "decoration" that made me squeal. It turned out to be a large (3.5-4") dress clip with "fruit salad" "gems". It's unmarked and middling quality but I love it. I need to have one of the stones reset (I have it, just haven't put it back yet). I wore it on my formal dress at the Queen Mary--which reminds me, I need to get pictures of that dress up on the "evening wear" thread.

Anyway, here's a picture of the pin:

I'm so sorry to hear your mail is being stolen.
It may be worth while to get a PO Box and have eveything delivered there.
Thanks, I will probably get a P.O Box. In the meantime I am having everything mailed to my sister's.

I did win this on ebay and actually received it.

I thought it was blue but it's actually a nice kelly green.

Crystal rhinestones like that make me weak in the knees. You and I really need to talk :)

Thanks. No one else bid on it so I got a really good price. I think it's because she had it listed under 1939-1946. I'm pretty sure its 1950's.

I love those little jackets. They are usually mouton when I find them, and I'm always tempted to get one & tell people it is fake if they ask. I remember one at Goodwill a few years back, I lusted after it for months--it was the most beautiful shade of brown, had this lush embroidered lining, and looked as if it had never been worn. It was never marked down (I think they had about $50 on it), and one day it vanished & I wanted to cry (and I still remember every little detail).

Don't you hate when that happens? After weeks of lusting after it, someone else runs off with it.
The coat appears mouton, by the look/feel of it, but I've been told by the previous owner that it's completely fake (not just one imitating another). I'm not convinced enough to have it dry-cleaned...

This dress is finally too big for me again! Yippity!

I found a belt in my closet and -yes- 80s tights to match.

I was going to say Mouton also for what it is worth. I have one just like it and the prettiest thing about it is the fab silk lining. Nice anyway whatever it is.

That someone stole from you is terrible. Why does your mail carrier leave packages if there is no one there to receive them? I'd rather travel to the post office to pick it up than have it left to get stolen. Please tell your postmaster of the theft and report it to the police.
Speaking from experience, you may want to go to a Mailboxes USA type of place where they give you an actual address rather than a P.O. Box as some people won't ship to a P.O. box for some strange reason.
The dress sounds even better in Kelly green! Too cute!

I know, given the look, feel, and style, Alenia and I thought the same thing. She rescued it from her mother-in-law, who got it when she was in college in the 1950s. She was going to give it to charity, along with some other coats. All of which happened to fit me. Anyway, the claim is it isn't real. I hope it is. The silk lining on this one is nice, but not the best I've seen. I'll get a photo of that and some of my other coats (mostly real fur, by the by)

This was listed as 1940's but it looks 50's to me. I got a good price. I hope I like it in person.
My guess on that would be 1948 to 53. It's definitely "New Look", when the hemlines dropped precipitously, but the detailing suggests that it's not too far into the 50's. Anyway, I'm sure you'll look smashing in it.

I'm thinking these may have been stolen too. !st class mail takes about 3-5 days right? I hope I get the skirt I ordered. It cost me more than I can stand to lose considering the dress I never got also.

3-5 business days, but this week we had Christmas.... so that might slow it down a bit.

Sorry that there's someone in this world that is stealing from you. Hope that Karma pays them back ten fold. :(

Here's a couple of dresses I've gotten over the past few months, all quite cheap.

A blue velvet dress, probably 1930's:

A printed cotton dress with a plastic/bakelite (I haven't tested it yet) belt buckle and carved buttons. The dress has several inverted pleats in the bodice and the skirt but I couldn't get a good photo of them due to the print:
