Does free count? They were throwing these away at my volunteer position. I snagged them so quickly, heads were spinning.

Has anyone else ever became attched to something that you have no ties to?
It would be hard not to be attached to something so gorgeous - particularly with the provenance you have with the gown! I'm always relieved when I hear of pieces like this landing with the right owner.

I'm in love with the brown hat...it's so classic.

Unfortunately I'm too big yet to fit into any of the clothes I salivate over, all of the ones you ladies have shown included...but as I get smaller...I, too, shall have some lovely frocks to add to the collection. :D Until then...hooray for hats! lol

Those chapeaus are gorgeous! Lucky you--you have a hat-shaped head. I can't pull anything off other than berets and floppy hippie-hats. lol

thank you! there were a few other really beautiful hats i wanted involving actual plumage, but i figured that starting with a few 'plain' ones would be best. :)
i'm not a hat person either...but i think that until recently i've been limited to baseball caps and unflattering bucket hats. lol now i think differently! i love these old hats!

epr25 - what a great find, especially with the shoes. I'd keep it for awhile, or lend it to the museum. Don't be in a hurry to sell it, you might end up regretting it. Hang onto it for awhile. It's a very special piece.

Here's a recent ebay purchase that I made for myself. It was unworn with original tag. Pretty wrinkled in the seller's photo, but washed/ironed up nicely. It's a super lightweight cotton, perfect for next Summer.

zaika, I love the little red hat, but then I love any hat with a veil that comes over the eyes. To me, that look is so sultry.

Brava on the hats Zaika--hats and shoes are such a godsend aren't they, untouched by weight fluctuation as they are? They're both gorgeous but I especially like the red one--I've not seen one like it before.

ooooooh lovely!

And you look wonderful in your cute hats Zaika!

epr25, what a find - and for $38?? I need my smelling salts...

PS Miss Brill - your juju must have rubbed off on me, because I brought home the most beautiful $2 powder blue V-neck cashmere sweater the other day! Not vintage, but cashmere I cannot resist!

Those are really pretty shoes SarahLouise, I have a really hard time resisting red shoes myself. I know what you mean about wanting to try things on, but there is so much more available on Ebay than the vintage fairs and shops that we have here in London that it's hard to resist.
I hope they fit like a dream, such a great colour for christmas too, I can just imagine them with a grey suit, red lipstick and a bit of mink!

I love the dresses you found too the brown looks like the kind of dress that would suit lots of different occasions, and the pink looks really fresh. As for the cardigan, well I for one love a bit of orlon and beads!:)

Oh and if in the unlikely event that your gorgeous shoes don't fit then do let me know and I'll have my feet surgically altered to fit them!!lol lol

It's a bit of a gamble as they weren't exactly cheap but every similar pair that I've come across have been in tiny sizes. I know vintage shoes are famous for being very narrow though so here's hoping that I can squeeze into them! What size are you? These are a US 8.5. If, unfortunately, they don't fit I'll let you know. Thank you, I love the dresses too. The brown one is perfect for autumn. I've had a bit of luck on US Ebay lately - got to love that exchange rate! ;) You can get some great deals.

I'm purchasing way too much these days. For some reason I cannot resist blue lately. Perhaps it's the weather.

I was watching this but it would've been a bit big. It's gorgeous, I'm glad it went to a fellow lounger!

Scarily enough I'm going to try and give up shopping for clothes for 6 months  Don't know how I'll cope, but I was buying way too much so figured I better make some drastic adjustments. I'm still going to make myself clothes though, giving that up too would be too much to ask! lol

I think you look very mysterious in that red chapeau.
After all, what man doesn't like a lady of mystery, especially in a red chapeau with purse and shoes to match. ;)

Gawgeous, Bunny, simply GAWGEOUS! :eusa_clap

I think that's why I was so compleled to buy it. I just knew I could care for it. I am going to contact the church tomorrow and see if I could possibly get a photo to copy to keep with the dress. I spoke to a lady in the historical musuem and she looked at the dress. I think that is where it is bound for awhile anyway. She could not believe that I found that at a garage sale.
