That's a nice overcoat. Very long (which is good) and it looks quite lightweight.

Thank you very much! It is an instant favorite. It is the only military one I have (for now), but I just prefer the look of thise one vs my civilian coats. It weighs about 8 lbs, so it's decently heavy. The only downside is that the wrinkles do not want to go away.

Nice find with that overcoat. I found something similar at a local second hand store a few weeks ago, unfortunately it was riddled with moth holes, looked like someone had taken a shotgun to it

6 1950s/1960s Summer Weight Shirts. Now I need to look for some summer weight slacks to wear with these. Hard to find them in a 31w-34l though. Any ideas where to look?

here's the label for this jacket. Had to sew it back on... love my sewing skills?

The provenance of this jacket is from the estate of an individual who was in some sort of music band (marching?) or something along those lines in Philadelphia, probably around late fifties/early sixties. It's such a cool looking jacket, I'm going to use it for parties and just goofing around. I believe it is cotton. I believe there might be three or four more smaller. This jacket is a 43 with a 32-3/4 length.

The label is Harry Brookstein Men's Shop Philadelphia PA.

Grandfather helped me out on this as a type of going away present, if you will. 1936 Summer Suit... payed a good amount, so I hope it works out... can't wait for it to arrive!

I saw this one on Etsy a while ago. Seller asked an even heftier price than you paid, because he thought it was from 1906. I sent him a note and he adjusted the price a bit. Still, you paid quite some money for it. I hope it fits. It's a fine suit!

I was able to talk them down a bit, and me and the Grandfather split it 50/50, so if I need to take a hit, it won't be that bad. It is a nice suit, for what it is. Not a heavily suppressed waist, and no pattern, but it will do

W.C. Bullitt was nothing less than the first US Ambassador to the Soviet Union (1933-36) and then France (1936-40), witnessing the German invasion.

February 1936, he was still in the Soviet Union... so the suit would have been there.

You've got a serious bit of 20th century history there! Please take good care of it.

How come no one did some research on it before?
Its been up for a long while and no one bought it or cared to look up the name
It now has a provenance and is well worth the cash paid for it.

Yes, there was significant discussion of the provenance when this was originally posted.

The fabric will be awesome. I have a 1935 suit from a British diplomat (also West End tailored), and it is the most beautiful fabric imaginable. Nothing like the standard scratchy British stuff of the day.
