I thought a thread to this effect would have existed but after a search of "photography" and "photos" nothing turned up. There must be other amateur (or professional) photographers on the Lounge other than me, so please post your photography here whether it's vintage inspired or not.

I only got into this two weeks ago after meeting up with an old friend who is quite a keen photographer and got me into it. I found an East German Praktica LTL 3 (manufactured 1975-78) in a charity shop which works and takes reasonably good pictures on modern 35mm colour film.

Here are the best pictures of my first film:

St Mary's Church, Stafford (the angle was so I could fit more of the church in)

Stafford Combined (Crown and County) Court

This is just the slightly noirish corner of my bedroom.

The canal under the tram bridge, Nottingham. This part of the film was quite badly light damaged as my camera decided to open up when I picked it up ruining the end of my film, but in my opinion this picture was actually improved by the light damage.

"Duhhh, which way did he go, George? Which way did he go?" lol

Those winter scenes are absolutely breathtaking.

Rue has nothing to be embarassed about. My pictures may look reasonable but if you were to see all the poorly composed or poorly lit photos I took you'd see what a "noob" I actually am to photography.

Aww.... thanks guys :)
You're not a noob avedwards.... You take great pics!
Both of you do.

Thank you, Rue.

I got to photograph the President one time recently:

A town hall meeting - someone was asking a question that seemed like she would never get to the point. Obama has that "Trying Hard to be Patient" look.

I took this one of my late dog that I thought came out really well:

And this one of a bumblebee:

I also took one of my boyfriend shaking hands with Prince Edward, but I can't find it anywhere!

I often take photos as reference for future artwork.

This one is from the "Highway of Heroes". It's a local tribute to Canadian soldiers who fell in Afghanistan...their bodies are transported from Trenton to Toronto along Hwy 401 and it has become a tradition to line each and every bridge over the highway with people and flags, as a tribute. Took this one in 2009.
