I just don't have the bandwidth on the ship to get pics into photobucket, but I'll be home at the end of the month and will do it then if it's not too late. Even though I was stuck on the ship (off the coast of Egypt) I thought it would be appropriate to dress. They all think I'm a bit eccentric anyway. I wore black trousers and shirt, white woven silk jacket and a black and grey hound's tooth bowtie.

My friend and I celebrated by watching Casino Royale (she's a big Bond fan too) then playing some Miller and Goodman. I put on Sing, Sing, Sing for the striking of Midnight and we toasted the new year and the loved ones that were not with us.

I was extremely busy being conservative in the 1980s, so I took this opportunity to whoop it up Madonna style and took 2nd place in the look alike contest. Nathaniel worked the Robert Palmer angle.

I spent most of the evening curled up on the couch in pjs watching Fred & Ginger on TCM. It was a terribly thrilling evening.

I say sheepishly, "My New Year's resolution is to buy a camera. Yes, I know I've been saying that for a year and a half." Many pictures were taken not by me but I need to stop hoping people will send me their pictures because they never do.

We hosted a party that was a real success! The last of the guests left around 4am. I learned to make cosmopolitans by the gallon, which were a real hit! Here's what I wore. I made it from a Butterick reproduction of a pattern originally published in 1960. Not really happy with my expression, it's "hurry and take the picture! the oven timer went off and the appetizers are burning"

New Years In The Midwest

As is our custom (Harry Pierpont and me), we spent New Years at a speakeasy somewhere in Iowa.

This year, they're working on getting the band back together.

(And, no, the tree is not on fire. its just how the camera reflected the Christmas lights with the dim lighting.)
