I have so been slacking!! I blame the heat! I also blame that my kids are on vacation and have been driving me insane and I can't wait for them to go back to school, I have officially started the back to school count down, 18 days to go!! My hair do of late has been the front parted and twistedish into a pomp/roll and pulled into to pig tails. Well, at least its long enough for two pig tails now. I just really need to start finding something else to do with it to keep it off my neck thats not so boring.

I've been braving a Hedy Lamarr middle parting recently - I haven't had a centre parting since I was about 12! Scary, but I think pretty successful. I'll try and get some pictures next time so you can tell me if it is or not!

Question for Lolita Haze

Hi all,

I'm new here and wanted to ask Lolita a question (or two :) ) about her set in this post.
How are your rollers set in the back ? Just at the nape or also some higher toward the crown ?

And for that last picture, what did you use to comb it out with ? Fingers, Wide toothed comb, paddle brush or bristel brush ?

I'm having to cope with spongerollers atm, but what diameter are those permrods ? (I'm not in the USA so the colorcode probably will be of no use)

I'm actually trying to grow my hair long (again) and am a member of various longhairboards, but in the meantime I like to play with my hair (hairfriendly though so no teasing) and shape my natural wave/cruls to something more appealing than a frizzball lol

Thanks !!!

Looking good ladies!!

Welcome to all the new gals.

Without those peach perm rods in front of me Niphredil I'd say they are roughly 3/4 inch diameter where the hair is actually wound. Probably about an inch on the ends.

I have to say, tried the Panteen Ice Shine hair spray and I like it. I do wish it dried quicker and had a wee bit more hold, but the shine makes up for it!
I'm used to using salon sprays but most are dull.

This is with the sides rolled, the average rolls, blah, with a bird...yah, a bird..its insomnia, come on now.

Here I am also playing dress up. I have the sides rolled up and the short ends cliped up in the back, pencil tucked in the side, cuz I was playing dress up, seretary and playing with camera. lol

I'm also dying my hair tomorrow, well later today, its intene auburn by garneir, to much time outside this summer has taken all the color previous color out of my hair, darn it. But I am going to be good this time, and do color treatments and such to try and make it last this time.

I love your hair color in this picture!

Fern--I want a vintage mom too, she is too cool!

My hair has been a nightmare in the heat, I have nothing to contribute.

Niphredil... Hi and welcome!! The back is just rolled up to the nape of the neck. This allows my hair to stay "straight" as it lies on my head, but curl a bit at the ends.

For the last photo, I think I just used my fingers to break up the curls. If I want the curls to hold shape, I use my fingers. If I want them to poof out a bit a use a paddle brush to split up the curls more finely (giving the poof) and if I want the curls to gather together and form bigger curls or waves, I keep brushing until I get the desired effect and use the brush to guide my hair in place.

Also note that I have super thick hair and I often wear curlers in my hair for a day and a half to two days. Sleeping in them sometimes two nights in a row.

The rods I use are about 3/4 inch in diameter. I think I want to go one size smaller so I can create tighter curls.

I love that you like to play with your hair and experiment first. That is basically how I learned all my hair tricks. :)

reds

I have a question. Having recently died my hair again, and not wanting it to fade away as quickly, (yes, after years of going red on again off again, I know red is a quick fader) do to red specialty products actually help? I.e. the hair sprays made to for red dyes, shampoos, etcs. I bought a once weekly conditioner treatment for dye darker than natural color, but was curious on if the products actually work, or if they are hype. I know Ohairs dyes and is a specialist so I'd trust what she has to say then just walking into a shop and asking them.
Thanks.
