Stephanie, I love that hair style, and your glasses are divine.

Alice, you look like 40s screen siren, wow! You could also easily pull off a bigger flower or a cluster of the small ones, that one's almost too subtle for your lush mane.

Thank you ladies! I'm never too certain on hair flowers, Fräulein, so thank you for your suggestion! I will treat myself to something nice and big. :)

Today's hair

I recently had about 4" cut off and the bottom 2" layered. Uncurled it's now just below the shoulders in the back and chin length in front. The layers make my curls sit so much better but I already miss the length ... Funny enough I quite like the look of the shorter cut, but I identified as a long haired person almost all my life and this really messes with my self image. I haven't decided yet whether to maintain the length for a while or have it grow out again right away.

That was a basic set with 15 large pincurls, two barrel curls rolled back on top, one row of two flat curls on each side rolled towards the face and three rows of four, three and two in the back rolled towards the face as well. Set in towel dried hair with undiluted Lottabody and slept on it, then combed out (not brushed).

Alice - Thank you!! I tend to use sponge rollers the most.. I still haven't really got the hang of pin curls and I just find that the sponge curls stay in longer for me.
Also they are about a million times faster to do!
The only downside I'm finding is that the rollers are a bit tough on my colour-damaged hair.. I'm getting a lot of breakage so I've been trying to minimise my use of them for a while :(

Do you mind saying what setting pattern you use for your "everyday" hair look? :) I'd love to know!

Beautiful pictures, by the way.

Last night I tried for the first time a pin curl set. I found online some diagrams, 10 Hollywood hairsltyles, and I went for Bacall's style. My hair isn't cut like her's (her cut is actually described!), since I have a bob, almost to the shoulders, longer in the front and very straight.

It turned out beautifully. It looked shorter that Bacall, more like Tierney's from the same book. Even the dreaded brush out was fine, and I loved the way my hair looked. Today it's less curly, more wavy, still nice.

I loved it. But I didn't like the hours I had to wait for the curls to dry. I think I'll try a curling iron next time. Will this be as succesful, in terms of hold in the curls?

The pin curl diagrams are wonderful. I have collected everything there is online!
