My wet set

I have been nervous about posting any pictures here, but I feel like my set came out rather well today, and I wanted your opinions on anything I can do to improve. I feel like my hair looks frizzy, and I changed my bangs after I saw this to curl more tightly to the right. I hope they aren't too dark and sorry about the odd faces. I never can make a normal face for pictures...

I've got fine 3b curls and have a frizz issue. I've had success with using a pomade (Alberto VO5 hairdressing in the black/gold tube) and rolling my hair with end papers. It works with pin curls too. The papers help cut down on the frizz factor before you even get to the brush out. Hairdressing is the final magic that smooths down any residual frizz and makes my hair look like, well, hair! A tiny bit though - 1/8 squeezed out - is all I need for curls that are to my shoulders when dry.

Another suggestion more long-term is to condition and moisture on your non-set days. Using no-sulfate shampoos help curls (sulfates dry out curly hair), and avoiding silicone based hair products. They are hard to find since just about everything for curly hair has an ingredient that ends with -cone. Silicone is great for smoothing the cuticle, but it does such a good job that it prevents moisture from getting into the strands. Repeated use dries the hair out. Ditch silicone products and start looking for creams and oils such as jojoba, aragon oil (read the ingredients of these especially as they usually sneak -cones in), and coconut. It sounds like a big heavy mess, but you'll be amazed at how much your hair soaks up and thanks you for it. I put jojoba on my hair 2 nights in a row and slept that way before I saw a big reduction in frizz when wearing my curls natural. Now I condition this way once a month or more often if I use heat appliances a lot. Women have been oiling their hair for centuries. It is easily washed out if you stick to pure oils and especially jojoba.

Beautiful hair ladies! I too am having a frizz problem with my natural curly hair. Does anyone use hot oil treatments for that? Do they work?

I haven't used hot oil, but I do use straight coconut oil (just a little!) on my hair and it helps with frizz. Mine is wavy, not curly, though.

ETA: you only need enough to make your palms shine to achieve this. Just get a little bit, rub your hands together to warm & spread, then apply to lower lengths of hair. Using too much will get you an icky look!

I do not plan to cut it all off. I need a trim and a few layers. The last time I cut my hair was 3 months ago when I got so mad at my hair I went into the bathroom and chopped off 4 inches. It is still past my shoulders.

I Adore Film Noir, forgive me if I'm wrong, but how on earth can one be too pale for blonde hair? I don't know about anyone else but the natural blondes that I know all have skin that's white as snow, except for the tanorexics of course haha.

But in the end it´ll be easier to get something if you know the right name. You won´t find aragon oil anywhere, I guess. Noone should take that personally. Just my two cents.

I'm not so sure about hot oil, but mayonnaise for 20 minutes before washing your hair works wonders for me - really hydrates the ends. My hair is straight/slightly wavy, but I don't think that makes a difference in this case.

I went in to Sally's Beauty looking for Argan oil products that did not contain 'cones. I found out I was
pronouncing it wrong and was corrected twice. I did find this gel, and I like it.No Cones! and it leaves the hair soft, but has
good hold.I found I could damp comb and reshape my curls after it dried without stirring up frizz.

I also got a generous sample of Soelle pure Argan oil at Whole Foods. $29 per ounce, though. Jojoba oil is much less pricey.

You hair looks very soft and well conditioned. Which one of the products did you use?

I used a little of the Soelle oil (coated my fingertip and spread it between my palms) and ran it over my washed conditioned and rinsed hair.
Then I used the Ecostyler gel scrunched in and dried under the dryer, then once it was dry (my hair is naturally curly)
I went over it with a dampened Denman hairbrush

to rearrange the curls.

Excuse my stupid mug! I need to take a bit more time to get it neater but it was pretty easy to do and I think will look better with the ponytail pincurled. Is a nice neat style for work anyway.
