Lolita, thanks for sharing that. I'm in curlers right now and will try your technique tomorrow morning. I'm guess I'm just afraid to brush. That's a common problem with newcomers apparently. I guess I'm gun-shy 'coz it seems like the tutorials and advice I've found so far on this are done by girls with naturally straight hair. I have a boars hair brush and a plastic bristle brush - does it matter which I use to minimize any frizz?

And Antje - your hairstyles are great! I especially like the way you do the rolls in the front. I love the color of your hair too. Those kinds of photos are inspiring to keep trying.

I've just done a little tutorial on my blog for a Barbara Stanwyck style: http://smuterella.blogspot.com/2011/01/leading-lady-hair-lady-eve-1941.html

Thank you everyone, I'm so glad you like it.

I read your blog and I think your hair always looks fab! But this do was awesome! :)
I'm still trying to get the hang of pin curls properly... they seem to be totally unpredictable on me! Some days they come out great, but most days they seem to go in all sorts of directions or just flop after about 1 hour... but I do have VERY straight hair naturally, so I guess I'm really trying to make it do something it doesn't want to do.

Here's my hair today. Honestly ladies, have I gone bonkers?! I wear victory rolls a lot because I think the extra height on top of my head helps counteract my round face! But today I experimented a bit with the placement and direction... is this just plain weird, or can I leave the house like this?! very grateful for some honest opinions here before I shame myself at the supermarket... :D

I think it's very cute, and you should definitely wear it out of the house. Your face shape looks kind of oval or heart though - and you've got great cheekbones. No need to counteract 'roundness' or anything negative. You look lovely!

Smut, you can be proud of that result, beautiful!

LinaSofia, you have striking cheekbones and if there's any roundness to your face, I'm not seeing it. Lovely look!

These pics of you and your sons are adorable. I have 4 boys....and am so happy to have the love boys give their mothers. That bond is so amazing between a mom and her son. You can see that in your pics!
