Ooh, everyone looks so lovely! crwritt, great cut. I might have to try that. I suppose that is your natural curl?
Yes, Tatum, that's my natural curl. On a straighter haired person it would look
more like

It reminds me of a Middy cut.

Hi Megan, welcome to the Lounge! ;)
I'm afraid I've never had extensions so I can't really help. I imagine it could work though . . . ? [huh]

Hi Kiri, thanks for the warm welcome :D

I'm hoping it will work, I was just worried that with it not being my own hair it might set slightly differently or fall out more quickly but I suppose only time will tell!

Kind Greetings

First day of posting, lurking for a few weeks. So many lovely vintage gals and gents on here, why do I get such strange looks at the market or mall :)?
Avatar shows my do for now, am waiting for a little more length for more options. Maybe.. So much inspiration, so little net browsing time at work...

I had decent success with hot sticks and Lottabody today! Happy day!

Katarina, how did you use Lottabody with Hot Sticks? Mugwump was asking about using it with heat on the Setting Lotion thread, and I have never done so, CaramelSmoothie figured it would fry the hair (which I agreed with when I read her post). Share please? Thanks!

*edited for clarification :)

Certainly! I basically just sprayed some Lottabody into my hand and lightly, lightly slid my hand over the section to be curled. Then I combed that section through (I guess you could just coat the comb and skip a step, as long as you keep it light) and just used hot sticks the regular way. You have to be really careful to not use too much Lottabody, otherwise A) hair fries! and B) you then have to wait for the curl to dry after you take the stick out.

I've only done this once, but my curls are still bouncing strong and my hair still feels healthy, so, yay!

crwitt, I love your hair and I am always struck by how beautiful you are when you post a picture!
SatCici, you are very sweet, maybe we are all critical of pictures of ourselves, but I'm glad you've never seen the ones I don't post!

Thank you

Thanks for the kind words and welcome Miss Sofia. I love finger waves and so apparently does my husband. You know how there's something you wear or do that causes them to ask "Where are you going" or keep really looking at you. He even said You think you're cute with your hair like that, I said no but you do and he had to laugh.

Funny you mention my face shape I thought it was a bit weird in that photo. It's the only one showing my face I have uploaded (at work) :D

There are some absolutely stunning styles in here ladies!

I haven't been doing mine as often as I'd like, and have no way of getting decent pictures but I actually tried today so I thought I would share. I was kind of attempting a bit of a joan holloway look, with the first few episodes of season 2 in mind.

I know that you can see absolutely zero detail in the back but it was basically pin curls, there's much more volume at the crown than you can see in these pictures.

You ladies are a real inspiration.
Yesterday I was satisfied with my pin curls for the first time. I just can´t remember how I did that...

RockyHorror: you look stunning
Katinka von K: that's the same style I tried to do, but mine came out a little frizzy. Do you remember if it was a dry set? You look beautiful!

This was my hair yesterday. I'm practicing rolls. I think I'm getting better.

@CocoBettie: Thank you so much. My hair was damp and I used a little bit of pomade before I put the curls in because I always have that frizzy problem, too. But no frizz this time. I really like your rolls! I always mess mine up.

@Katinka von K: Thanks for the tip about using pomade...that's what I'm missing. I'll have to try it.
Thanks for liking my rolls! My hair style would've been better if I had curled my hair, but I didn't have time and just did it with my hair straight.

My first set

Hi ladies,

This is my first post here, though I've been reading through the middy thread quite a lot lately. I'm at a growing out phase of my hair. Before braving doing the middy cut myself, I thought I'd take a stab at a roll set on my hair as is. I have straight, fine hair. I used foam rollers sprayed with diluted Lottabody both of which I snagged at the local beauty mart today.

Before, straight no makeup

After with a little makeup

It came out a little Rita Hayworth, but I'm cool with that.

Whoops! Trying again with photobucket.
