I found this photo of this lady on a friend's facebook page. For a moment I thought it was Madonna, but I knew that couldn't be right, so if anyone knows who she is, please let me know.

I instantly knew that this was a style I would have to try out. Last night, with freshly bleached hair I decided to set it and see if it worked. Now my hair is longer than hers, so it isn't perfect. Plus this is my first jab at it so it isn't exactly the same, but not bad for a 1st try, eh? Suggestions?

I have been a bit in the dumps lately, so I am hoping that this getting made up makes me feel better.

LolitaHaze, that looks perfect! I don't know how you got the front to do that.

btw, love that lipstick color too! Everytime I think I've found the right red, it just ends up looking mostly orangy on me [huh]

Roxy... Thank you so much!

MaryAnne... You are too kind, but I will let you in on a secret... They don't always turn out this good, I just post the 1st tries that are half way decent! Hehehe Thank you for the well wishes! I am slowly feeling less poopy.

RockyHorror... I have been saying the same about you! :D

de-stressed... Thank you. :-D I set the front using perm rods to create the shape, but I have to pinch and pin the 2 sides together. I think next time I try this style I will shape set it (like fingerwaves) instead of using the permrods. Also, I am wearing Besame's Red Hot Red in the photo. It doesn't show just how rich the color is in real life. The lighting in the bathroom was off.

Here is my hair for today. I used the curls that stayed in my hair from yesterday's do and just reshaped them. I did not reset the curls.

LolitaHaze, you always astound me with your talent!

RockyHorror, I love your highlights! Perfect with those ringlets.

I had two good hair days, a little different. This was uncooperative hair, but cute, a few nights ago. Please pardon my messy dressing room! I really need to get a curtain up on that window

And tonight's accidental updo. I was going to try LisaFreemontStreet's Doris Mayday inspired updo (I did it last week but didn't like how it turned out) but while I was pinning the back out of the way, it sort of fell and I liked it, so I went with it. The front did its own thing too, and I got such great compliments on it! Sorry for the blurry first pic...

Tatum: Beautiful up do! How did you set your hair? Your curls are lovely.

Thanks, Lindabelle. I do a pretty basic set; center front is two rolled towards my back, sides are two each rolled up, and the rest is however I can get it to go (it's so long I have to start them loose, then tighten up when I get a little closer). I actually have a pic of the set, here it is with direction arrows added in. I sectioned forward of my ears, and a squarish shape for the front.

Miss Sofia... Thank you, kindly.

DeadPanDiva... Thanks! It's mostly just playing around and making it work. LOL Now if I could only master the finger waves like you have recently, I'd be one happy girl!

Mrs Cleaver... Thank you. It is ridiculously simple to do, if you already have curly ends from a set.

Tatum
... Thank you. Your hair looks lovely in the photos you just posted.

Veronica... Thank you. It is actually the top to a squaw dress set. I didn't feel like wearing the shirt so I paired it with shorts and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the diagram Tatum! It makes so much easier with something to follow. Are they pillow rollers? I have considered getting them in the past as they look so soft to sleep on! The sponge rollers make a nice set but they tend to dig into my head when I sleep on them.

Yes, those are pillow rollers. My hair is too long for pincurls at the moment! I find that they also dry better than sponge rollers, and are much more comfortable. The only downside is that sometimes the wire hook will come out of the end, and will catch your hair (ouch), so if they look a little worn, re-stitch them before you use them again. I have a small pile of them that need to be mended!

*Edited to add: Also, to get the sides to stay up, I usually pop a bobby pin into one of the sides to hold it. You can see a pin doing just that on my top (your viewing) right side.

Thanks Mrs Cleaver and Lolita!

My curls didn't fully dry yesterday so they didn't turn out quite as planned, but it could definitely have been worse :)
