Mary, that wave is gorgeous. You def have that down and I'd love to know how you did it! The only thing I could think of to make it more Ginger-y would be a deeper side part and a bigger chunk of hair from the heavy side, too. Might help with the volume and it would take that awesome wave go clear across your head like hers in the photo. (maybe?) But you def got that wave down and great side/back fkuff!

FaintlyMacabre:
Thanks so much for your input! I made the wave with a duckbill clip on semi-dry hair and loaded on the hair spray! Then, I removed the clip when my hair was totally dry.

What a great tip! I am definitely going to try it thanks! I also think that my hair would have more body if I set my curlers under a hooded dryer rather than air drying...my hair doesn't have a lot of body when I am not using heat I have noticed...

I loved the pics of your hair as well - just gorgeous!

Oooo, I've never seen those clips before. What I have noticed between the Mervin clips and the "fingerwave clips" (is there another term for them?) is that the Mervin clip waves are smaller, so I can fit a full 3 waves on my part side. The manual fingerwaves plus the wave clips gives a larger wave, but the ridge is more defined. I like both, however, the manual waves with wave clips last longer, 3 days vs 2 with the Mervin clips. I get a lot more comments on my 'do with the Mervin clips, but the other clips tend to look more natural on day 2/3 and can be worn with jeans and a tee shirt without looking out of place.

Ahhh ok thanks for the info! I will have to try a few of these clips out and report back!

Marymary, I'm quite sure they added clip-in hair pieces to fill out a lot of the styles we see in the movies and can't copy. Plus "rats" for extra fullness and height. Heck, some do's we admire might be only 10-20% of an actress's real hair!

That is true, I didn't think about that. I love it when Ginger wears that braid around her head that looks like a halo, and I always wondered how they did that on such short hair until one time I was looking through an old catalogue and saw braided hair pieces for sale....it was my duh moment.... LOL

I think if you lined them up carefully you could get the water wave look.
Cheap too!

Oh wow...I couldn't help but laugh when I saw her hair in those curlers! It actually looks identical to what my hair looks like if I use a triple barrel curling iron...

It is near platinum at the roots, since that is where I had the least dark dye and more pastel peachy at the ends, so in 4 weeks I will get that correctd and then it will be a lovely, minky Grace Kelly colour all over!

About 11+ inches were cut off

SheBear74, your hair looks really good. When mine was shorter I could do something similar.

Darhling, stop teasing us and let us see what your hair looks like without the rollers in!:) I think the final color will suit you but you seem to be able to pull off any color.

Antje, just love red hair with a white flower, very pretty!

Darhling, I think the glass still look good with the color, and love the cut too :) I spent 2 years growing mine out then decided I liked it better short lol It was about to my bra strap, now it's about to my collar ;)

Darhling, the glasses still look good if you like them to dominate. If you don't want them to dominate then a light tortoise would look good too just to mention one alternative.

Darhling, the new colour looks wonderful, and the style is so chic!

My hair is in desperate need of cutting - I'm still trying to decide if I should grow it longer or go 30s-short - but this is my usual style these days. To achieve it, I sleep in rag curlers after a hair-wash, with hair rolled downwards from my parting and with smaller rolls near the face.

(I'm still on the hunt for the perfect red lipstick, so please forgive the bare lips.)
