I did my first roller set! The challenge was that I have afro-texture hair and I didn't want to use a flat iron. I think it came out pretty neat. I made a video. You can skip to mark 5:16 to see how it came out.

-Sigh- Lolita, your hair is always just incredible. I read your blog and moan in envy every time you do one of your hair posts. You're so talented and lovely!

Okay, here goes, my first photo post! I got some pretty good waves with this last sponge roller set. Still lots of frizzies, but I am getting better as I go. I really need to get a haircut though; that should cut down on the frizz some. This was at the end of the night, after the curl had let down some. With my new Belle Blossom gardenia, of course.

Here is a better look at the waves. Here you can really see where I need a cut. I have a problem with the chunk that is coming over from the top hair; I can't get it to blend in with the side hair too well.

Hi Ladies! I just realized I forgot to say in my last post that I am really loving this thread and how many people have been mastering the vintage styles lately!

VampyGirl13... Thank you, Doll! I was just saying in a comment on my blog how sometimes the thickness hinders me from perfecting a cute style. Especially the shorter early 30's Ginger Rogers's styles that I covet!

MissDizzyDame... And quite simple too! After I set it in my perm rods to add the curl, it took less than 10 mins to style! Thank you!

Bunny Chan... Thank you... I have been suffering from a case of the uglies lately, so that was nice to hear/read. :-D

ScotchWiskey... Aww Thanks!! I stress this with everyone to know the texture and capabilities of their own hair and then work with that. That is really all I do. I let it do what it will and then try to force it to do something else. Hehehe just teasing, when I force it, I ruin it -- the style that is.

kymeratale- I love your hair colour! Great job! Are you using any setting lotion or serum?

Here is a set I did the other day, and it was pouring rain outside:rage: . I used Lottabody setting lotion, and did a wet set with sponge rollers. I just got a cut and I think my hair is thanking me for it ;)

This was my first attempt at using a sponge roller set. Let me just say that I HATED it. In fact, I found my first go at pincurls to be SO much easier. The curl that the pinset gave was DEFINETELY better, as the sponge roller set seemed to flop after brushing it out. I also did a makeup test, but had to forgo the red lipstick as the kind I got was TERRIBLE. Stay away from the new maybelline 16 hour colorlast. I put it on sheer as they described, let it dry, and applied the balm. It literally was a cakey mess that flaked off around the inside of my lip.

Anyhow, here's the hair. :)

Thanks MarieAnne,

The colour is a bit more red in person than shows up in the pic. It is Loreal Superior Preference in intense red copper with a boost of Herbal Essence spiced tea laid over top a couple of weeks after.

I used Lottabody with Frizz Ease serum. Still lots of flyaways though, that is just the kind of hair I have. I am heading to Montreal this weekend to visit a friend who I know is not afraid of cutting hair. I am going to get her to do C-Dot's middy cut tutorial on me (just quite long). I imagine a cut will make a big difference.

eVERYONE'S HAIR LOOKS CUTE. Here's my first time doing fingerwaves at the front:

Took 5 minutes and I slept in the wave clips to ensure dryness. No product was used but water...

Looks great, Amy Jeanne!

I used to have one of those silver clips, but had a hard time finding others. I've never tried finger waves. It'll be on my to-do list, esp. if they turn out as cute as yours have!

Ps. Is that a Mash tshirt? LOL :)

Here's my up-do faker! This works for anyone with short hair as long as the top is long enough to take a curl. My hair is currently cut in a stacked bob, with nothing longer than the back on the hair line.
