Great do's, LadyL and crazydaisy! All those women nowadays who spend hours straightening their hair...madness. I love curls and waves. Soft, sexy and feminine. Now that's worth puttin' a little effort in.

See, my hair is that straight naturally, I think its madness the amount of time I spend curling the darn stuff. lol

Wow! all you ladies look GREAT! Lady L, the piercings are cute as well as the hair! Claireg, you outdid yourself!

Here is a set done from a 1942 magazine. It is quite fluffy. I got 3 days out it and each day it was a little bit different!

Here's my hair for my parent's Christmas party. I set it with brush rollers, I'll post the set next time I set it that way. Here's my hair before I brushed it out:

Here it is brushed out and styled. I love it, I love the little wave I got, and it stayed all night despite the rain! (Don't pay attention to the fact that my Mom is in a robe blow drying her hair in the background):

"I just washed my hair and can't do a thing with it?"

Maybe its gotten more like this with being older, but lately I'm finding that my hair looks and feels like super soft silky baby hair after I've just washed it. I don't think it the shampoo...

They say its easier to style one's hair with it is NOT freshly washed, though my vintage stylist always washes it first when I'm there. Then he put LOTS of gel in it before he rollers sets it.

Is other FL gals' hair like this??

My hair is never baby-soft and silky, but it is completely uncooperative on washday. If I'm setting it, I'll do it the next night or later, after misting with water/setting lotion. It's big and fluffy on washday, goes its own direction and does not take no for an answer.

I do have a problem if my hair is freshly washed and I'm trying to do *anything* with it. The way I combat that is if I am NOT setting my hair, I wash it early in the evening, giving it time to air dry before bed and then sleep on it. The next morning it's easier to handle. Why? I have no clue, but it works for me.

If I have to do something quickly, I will spray a little hairspray in my hair and brush it through. After about 5 minutes it becomes manageable.

If I am setting and it's during the week, I still wash it early (just when I get home from work) then blow dry the heck out of it. Then I have have HAVE to use a setting lotion and gel mix, and blow it mostly dry before bed. If it's the weekend, I wash Saturday night, set Sunday Morning and allow it to set all day and take it out Monday morning. Needless to say, I don't go many places on most Sundays lol

My hair is only slightly soft (it's clown hair for goodness sake, haha) after I wash it and it air dries.

Typically if I am setting my hair for the weekend I will wash and foam or rag roller set it Friday morning or sometime by Friday lunch hour (lucky for me I work from home). Then I sleep on it and do my hair Saturday. A good wet set will last me 3 to 4 days if I take care of it when I go to sleep by re-pinning it and using a scarf.

If I am not going to be wet setting my hair (for example if I plan to use hot sticks or just do a faux rolled bang/kerchief thing for the weekend) then I wash my hair on Thursdays, let it air dry (wavy curls) and by Saturday it's a couple days dirty so a hot set works fine. A hot set on freshly washed hair is a waste of time for me.

I rarely set my hair for anything during the week because I only work and the cats really don't give a hoot what my hair looks like (and the husband doesn't either, thank goodness).

I am the SAME way. My hair will look awful if I wash it, blow dry, then set. I usually wash it at night, let it air dry, and sometimes, I'll put in hot rollers and leave them in until they're cool, take them out, leave the curls, and go to bed. In the morning, I have nice, soft curls and no frizz.

Great idea! I only have about 20 min to get ready in the morning so I usually don't curl my hair much for work, just a bit with the curling iron. I'm going to give this a try :)

Me at my school's Christmas Party yesterday

Just wanted to share som pics of me from last night, that I took during my school's Christmas Party. I took the pics after a couple of hours of dancing, haha. I was surprised though that my hair still looked good.

I'm sorry for the blurry pictures...
