Here are a couple of tries from the vintage hairstyling book. Please excuse the blank stares! I cannot wait to try it with the red hair now - maybe it will show up in pics! Of course I absolutely now feel the need to recreate some Barberella hair or and Ann Margaret 'do.

more perm rod related fun, excuse the heavy make up, it was my first time with everyday minerals and I went a little OTT

Just like everyone else here, I love the 'do!

So I am assuming you brush the curls out after removing the rods, yes? Does your hair get frizzy? Mine always seems to frizz when brushing out curls.

Smuts - you're killing me! Stop being so flippin' gorgeous! (love that lipstick by the way, what's the shade and brand?)

Dolly - when did your hair get so long?!!! Your rolls are perfect too.

oh, thank you! the lipstick is MAC "girl about town" its the brightest pink I've found so far

Now I'm using a natural bristle brush I barely get any frizz, if it does frizz I just keep brushing it in the direction I want it to sit and eventually it calms down.

my main frizz issue was first thing in the morning but now i've switched to a pure silk pillowcase there is no frizz and also fewer morning wrinkles. I can't recommend silk pillowcases enough.

Then that's the one I'm getting next time. I'm running out of my Vivacious and I've been told they've discontinued "my" pink:(

Thank you, dear! It was actually the 3-barrel waver--I couldn't believe that it actually worked this time! I had tried it on numerous occasions and it always looked wrong--but I used a really small amount of hair and it turned out. :)

And the mirror is my great-great-grandmother's, the "M" for "Margaret." It's a total treasure and my absolute favorite antique. :D

I tried some pin curls last (just in the front on the right hand side - or left if you're looking at the photo on the right) and I was really happy with the wave in front. The rest was a disaster - I brushed heaps but it was just a big fluff ball. I saved it with some hot rollers. I tried finger waves on the other side but they ended up a bit loose.

I have a wee question for all you hair goddesses..........Whenever I curl my hair I manage to get it into the perfect wave but only for a little while, for some reason it always pops back into ringlet style curls after a few minutes, which isn't what I want. Does anybody else have this problem and if you do, how do you get your hair to stay in the wave? I use setting lotion, hairspray etc, but neither make a difference [huh]
