Must be the week for leverguns, just traded for this one today, a Rossi 92 in .45 Colt. Will match up well with a Vaquero in the same cartridge.

I have one of these (mine's a Puma but same-same) in .44 mag. I wanted a .357 but this one was what was on Big 5's rack that day. It's a sweet little carbine and I can load it with .44 special for less recoil, or load .44 mag brass down to the original .44-40 ballistics.

I know I am not the only one with a "box of holsters" and today it paid off. While digging through one of the boxes I found a holster to fit my Luger!

LOL on box of holsters. In 29 years of "on the job" I have accumulated several boxes of holsters. It feeds the addiction of when out looking for guns. You know, hey I need to pick that up because I have a holster at the house that will fit it.

Oh, let me get your opinions on this. I am doing a Zoot Shooting blog and will be discussing the different cartridges available for the sport. I will be putting comparison pics in this, using a .45 ACP and .38 Special rounds for the comparisons. do either of the following pics have a real advantage or disadvantage over the way of showing them?

Found out the Hi Power I got a few weeks ago came from Israel. Probably started out IDF then would have been issued to their Police. An interesting history. Now, I am undecided again, I had decided to strip and refinsh it, now I'm not so sure, I have several friends in the IDF.

Well, strange week last week. I found a Vaquero in .45 Colt and worked out a trade with a very nice fellow in CA. Went to my LGS to fill out the paperwork and they had 2 more guns that I wound up swapping for as well! I had been wanting another Mauser HSc for a while and they had a nice one in .380 there. Also, a little .32 Iver Johnson that hit mt "Adopt me" urge, so it came too.

Well, I was really liking those classic diamond grips, until I went to the range and put a full box of 38spl +P through the gun. A sore hand the next day made me realize I needed something a little more forgiving. Fortunately, Altamont also makes these equally beautiful and also very ergonomic rosewood boot grips! Now the gun handles as good as it looks.

Yikes, I gotta slow down. I wound up doing some more swapping and wound up with a totally sad little mud puppy Colt Pocket Positive in .32 Colt Police. The poor little gun had been bounced around quite a bit, grips broken, held on by electrical tape and had not been cleaned or oiled in decades! Had to work like the dickens to get the fossilized tape off the backstrap, then a serious cleaning and lubing. A still very smooth action under all the crud! Found some NOS Jay Scott grips for it too. The other gun was a very clean Colt New Service from 1933, a .45ACP warhorse. It just needed a little TLC and it was ready to go. Will hit the range with them Monday.

I would rank them in caliber order:

.32 Long
.32ACP
.30 Luger
.38 Special
.45ACP

And my new gun. EAA Witness Pavona in 40 S&W. Mods and Cerrokote for the lower to come.

Dave, most Pavonas have a very nice molded in pattern on the frames. Looks like someone has already painted over it. Is there anyway to strip that OD paint off and see what is underneath first?
