That is a lovely Lanchester mk1. I just think it's horrible what was done to it though. I am happy to say all my guns shoot. Of course, there's no way I could afford a full auto weapon and license. That's a rich man's game and that I most certainly am not.
Hey. Anybody heard about the new Webley being made? It's called the mk.7- .357 and 7 shot revolver in the classic Webley design (upgraded of course).

No, I have not heard about that. Any photos or specs yet? I just saw a photo of the new Kimber Revolver. A six shot concealed hammer snubnose. It looks like a S&W 640 on a Ruger SP101 frame with a six shot cylinder in .357 Magnum.

Nice snubby! But, I have to confess, I never really cared for anything with less than a 3" bbl and very few such were ever made.
Something like these. (Images from the web.) I especially like that Charter arms. Just needs the hammer bobbed.

Now, this Ruger would be a bit heavier but would be quick on the draw and the added weight forward would do a lot for controlability and second shot time and accuracy. Again, that hammer would want something done to it.

Here's a couple more I picked up as sweet deals. Both came from the same gun shop, both marked as 91/30. Both priced at $109. Strangely enough, that shop is now out of business.
First, Finn model M28 Civil Guard marked.

The bayonet I got separately and the button is a war era Finn Civil Guard pin or badge I found along the way.


Then there was this Finned M91... I'm going to make a handguard for it one of these days. I picked up the bayonet from fleabay.
The guy had it laying in front of a rack of 91/30s. He said he had it there because it was too long to fit in the rack like "all the other 91/30s"... uhhh... what?! And letting an M28 go at that price? My wife was in church (a Saturday evening) and I went to the gun shop. I saw that... she had the check book so I dashed back to the church and waited, and waited, annddd waited... finally, I went inside, bent over and whispered to her, "Gimme the check book, I've GOT to buy a gun!" She gave me a funny look and handed over the check book and I was gone in a flash!
She was mollified later when I told her the value difference.

Here in Texas it's rather easy, especially if you have a concealed carry permit. I just walk in, pick out a firearm, whip out the permit, they make a copy while I fill out the federal paperwork, pay, take the gun and go.

Same way here in WA...thats how it should be I believe....If you have the CCP, then that permit is validation of the extensive background check...If anything contrary to those results had surfaced or happened since, that card would have been revoked....Sounds to me like the right way to handle this...knock on wood....I hope WA continues to follow this path...

Thanks Robert, This one looks like it was shot very little and carried a lot. I also just found a spare Pachmayer grip adapter in my spare parts drawer. I will have to put that on.

It also came with a vintage holster.

Thanks. I know what you mean about a 3" revolver. I have a S&W Model 65 with a 3" barrel and it handles beautifully. The one I would really love to find one day would be a model 10 or Pre 10 with a 3" tapered barrel. I read that article on the Webly, looks interesting, but the 10,000 price tag puts it way out of my range.

Have no fear. I do not sporterize. In fact, I am a site moderator on Parallax Bill's Milsurpshooter.net forums. If you are not familiar with it, that's a site dedicated to collecting of milsurp and C&R weapons and with/out exception the preservation of such in original configuration. Sporterizing topics and discussion are banned there.
As for head space, I have had these for years and they were checked out long ago.
As an example of ther havoc that can be created by ignorant sporterizers, witness the rifle below. Outwardly an M48, the action is actually that of an M1924 Pre-WWII rifle. A frind gave it to me as a worthless wall hanger.
The bolt arm was cut off and welded back as a bent bolt. Not knowing what if any precautions were taken about the heat, it was not even safe to shoot. Besides, in that stock, the bolt would not fully close the action. Another thing done was to cut a radius into the bolt arm, presumably for a scope relief. How they missed drilling and tapping it too, I don't know.
What could be worse? This was originally a matching CXC rifle- that is, was, a Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. That ran from 1918-1929. The Yugoslavs started Mauser M1924 production in 1928 and this rifle was made in 1929, right before the change to thee "Kingddom of Yugoslavia. Not many CXC marked rifles were made making this, in original condition, quite rare with values running $400=, in- original- configuration. Why do these guys always get the rare ones?!
But, I haven't left it at that. Below is the restoration...

I picked up a vintage M-7 on eBay, but I shouldn't have. It was inexpensive, and looked good in the seller's photos, but it was in kinda rough shape when it arrived. I just couldn't bring myself to use it for my new 1911. So, I bought a reproduction M-3 on Amazon. Much better. Nice, soft, thick leather. Well made...and it didn't break the bank.
