Things may be different where you are, but around here (mid-South) the ammunition shortage is over. At the local gun show last weekend there was as much ammunition as you could want.
Prices are not down to post-shortage levels, but well below the peak.

My doubles are one Citori and one Jeffrey. The only American double I had was a Remington 16 ga. that was stolen. Just as well, the drop was so extreme that I could hit the broad side of a barn from the inside.

I will post them when I get a chance. Busy as all get out! But I did get to see a bit of history yesterday. Family members brought in Chief Bedford's "BBQ" Colt SAA yesterday. Chief Bedford was gunned down in the famous Santa Claus bank robbery in Cisco Texas, Dec. 1927.

Look it up. He was chief of police of Cisco at the time. Gun had been nickel plated and engraved by someone. Not factory. And fitted with old mother of pearl steer head grips with the Ruby eyes! 4 3/4" barrel, 45 Colt. He was not packing this gun the day of the robbery. As I stated it was his formal wear piece!!!

Apart from making me hungry (what doesn't!) thoughts of a BBQ gun have been passing through my little bear brain recently. I just celebrated living more than half my life here in the Lone Star State and I think I deserve one - any ideas or pictures of your faves?

Mike, there are several links on the Smith & Wesson Forum dedicated to BBQ guns. It is a dream spot for anyone who appreciates finely decorated firearms

Okay! When I get back from my yearly south Texas hunting trip and falling down contest next week, I'll post pics of my meagre array of model 12's AND the wartime production 94 Winchester eastern carbine I brought home tonight. 30WCF.

Leaving tomorrow afternoon.

Good hunting and avoid falling on anything expensive and/or sharp!

Hi

My old gun dealer from Kansas bought a nice Weatherby Lazermark in .300 Weatherby for Elk Hunting. YEARS later he had a chance to take it after some elk. He slide down a hill side and scraped the crap out of the gun, but he didn't care (much) because he bought it to shoot, not to look at.
