I hope everyone who is opting for a clothing fabric mask is doing so because they don't have a medical mask, or even a mask from a discount store used for outdoor work, because clothing fabric probably offers 5% of the air particle protection even the least expensive outdoor work masks does. If you have the option, wear an actual mask made for some/any level of particle protection. If you don't have the option, by all means, wear clothing fabric. It's better than nothing...but it is indeed almost nothing.

I wouldn’t use the medical-grade masks that are in short supply in hospitals right now.

The primary benefit of covering your nose and mouth is that you protect others.

Wearing cloth masks is a reminder that we need to be taking serious precautions and also serves as a reminder to people to keep that 6-foot buffer.

Wearing cloth masks also sends a message to others to Watch out. There's a public health crisis right now, there's a virus going around, we need to be on top guard.

Monsivais & Company Wabash face mask today. I sewed in a pocket for a nose wire made of 2 pipe cleaners wrapped in plastic wrap. Nice soft cotton, with a vintage work wear vibe.

Made of Wabash Cotton

- 100% cotton

- HBT cotton band for adjustable size and pressure

- Lined in 100% cotton poplin for comfort

- Reusable and Machine Washable

Here's another idea for you DIYers. I like this one a lot better than the earlier one I posted.

Bandana, folded over once, and again:

Hair bands slid over the ends of folded bandana, and then bandana folded over. The amount of fold-over is determined by how tight you want it to fit:

#4 cone coffee filter. Edges with red arrows folded over so they lie flat. Place cone over nose and mouth and scrunch to fit. Remove from face and place cone in bandana:

This provides 4 layers of cloth and a layer of paper insulation. It passes the candle blow-out test.

The paper can be changed regularly, and bandanas can be washed. All items are cheap and easy to buy.

All that being said, I did buy some cloth masks online. I will be using the paper cone filters inside them, as well.

Since i have them last weekend, i basically have the leather overmask hangging on my neck , i wear fabric homemade mask when visiting family and being there indoor, and overmask over it when outdoor or in public area like supermarket, queing at atm, and when at home i just have the overmask hanging loosely on my neck, and when suddenly the bell rings i can just bring it over my face to answer.... just like reading glasses without the fabric mask when at home.

Every thursday i got a neighborhood guard duty, help security guard manning the neighborhood entrance check point, for 2 hrs from 6-8pm, for that added risk I wear industrial respirator

Like so, much easier lighter to breathe, and not getting wet inside overtime, also its proper band over the head feels less annoying than rubber band around my ears, a lot more suitable for long hours wearing
