Happy New year from Japan!
This year was looking to be my leanest year since I joined the Lounge. It may well have been my leanest year. I’d have to check, but a four Barbisio purchase from Stefan (+ bonus hat for Etsuko) ensured it wasn’t too bad.
My first hat was an Akubra Blue Mountains that I arranged to have waiting for me when I went there with our sixth graders.

Next were the Barbisios (with a bright red Borsalino thrown in for Etsuko).

Finally, a Stratoliner from John @moehawk.

6 hats for the year. My goal is to pick up one or two nice straw hats this year. I hope some of you enablers are listening!

Not in order of purchase.

Unknown maker 1920s or 1930s derby.

Dunn & Co. "Perfectus" bowler.

Nadir (by Vanzina) ... the hat band was purchased separately.

Circa 1930 Stetson Select Quality.

A new Akubra Camp Draft.

Gano-Downs (department store house brand -- not sure who made it).

A generic equestrian topper. I added the hat band.

Penney's Marathon.

Mid-to-late 1940s Lee Bon Voyage.

Butch Dorer pure beaver.

Panama.

Pure beaver. The Navajo Story Teller band came with it.

Beaver blend. The silver band came with this one too.

I had the same idea as Joe, but it seems I failed. Just can't stop myself from saving a good hat. And I was doing so well for most of the year.

The finders (those that will move on or already have).

And keepers (for now at least). At least I did better than last year buying less hats, so I say it's progress.

May have missed some here and there, who knows?

Nice — and your keepers outnumber the finders! I must be doing it wrong as my finders were +100 to my keepers. No wonder I have so many hat piles. Does this reversal happen after a certain level of accumulation? Asking for my wife…
