interesting the way they've sunk the side tabs into a purpose-built seam in the waistband. i don't think i've seen that before.

I also think this was a clever way to save fabric and fixate the side straps.

....

A ca. 1929-1933 navy blue DB blazer with lightly padded, round shoulders. The original buttons were damaged, so I replaced them with matching ones.
It fits me perfectly and has long sleeves.

The label points to Friedrichshafen am Bodensee (Lake Constance between Germany, Switzerland and Austria).
I imagine that it was worn with white flanell slacks aboard a ship or promenade.

Nice! I have seen jacket just like that being worn with white flannels in pictures. And then the buttons would look good too.

I got this summer sport-suit.
Ca. 1928-1932. The fabric is thick, smooth and slightly shiny. It doesn't appear to be linen, but rather flax. (Edit: I think it is nettle fabric.)
Size is a 38-40 short.

You are right - flax is linen.
But it feels different from that.
It's not quite like the usual raw silk I know, either.

Thanks guys,

I now think the white sport-suit is made from nettle fibres! They are strong, shiny and have a cotton-like puff, which is the case with the suit.

What exactly do you mean? It is a strip of fabric sewn on the inside under which a elastic band, affixed to the side seams, is tunnelled.
