[Two Types]

Here are some screen grabs from the 1951 film 'Where no Vultures Fly'. I have included them, not because, the suits are immediately interesting, but because they show the colours used for colonial suits:

I'm progressively going off the low button stance, mainly because I find it makes the jacket less practical (less coverage).

In warmer climes that might not be such a bad thing. I have a one button SB with a low button stance in linen and it is a bit cooler, though you'll need to clip down your tie as it has a tendency to pop out of the jacket when buttoned.

I like the Woman in question stuff a lot. A good mix of dressed up and casual.
I like the way the subtleties in suiting describe the characters.

I love the combination of classic menswear, girly, androgynous and casual going on at the party in the last two shots. Very much like the current 'anything goes' stylistic sensibility, but done with a bit more style imho.

Ditto, that is a nice one. I think it makes the jacket look a bit more sporty, which increases it's versatility. Can be dressed up or down to use a platitude.

One rarely sees a RTW four pocket jacket these days.

I must have been focussing on the pockets and back, since i have only just noticed how narrow the lapels are on that jacket (when compared to most of the other jackets in that film).

Waterloo Road (1945)

Something that has been noted here before: In the mid 1940s Stewart Granger always appeared to be one step ahead of fashion. Whilst most other British actors appeared in three button jackets (often with peak lapels) Granger was wearing deep-V two button suits.
