Proper midcentury trad/ivy/preppy navy blazer. Three-roll-2-if-I-want, patch pockets, silver buttons, single back vent, shapeless front.

The semi-boating blazer! Originally a 1930s pinstriped suit separate, I've repurposed it for more casual purposes. If only I had the trousers. :(
Worsted wool, DB 4x2, ventless, peaked lapels, draped chest and suppressed waist. Lapels could do with a bit of a press.

And that's it! I was going to add the blue harris tweed, but I might be selling it to a friend, so who knows. Hopefully I'll find a nice olive jacket at some point, preferably herringbone, and maybe a nice seersucker one, to keep the lonely white and merino plaid summer ones company.

This is a linen sport coat by DOBBS New York, made by the hat manufacturer of the same name (or at least that's what I'm hoping)! I was very excited to see this on the 'bay. It's a 3/2 rolled sack w/ standard pockets and flaps.

The collar was soiled when it arrived, and it smelled dusty, so it probably got shoved to the back of the coat closet or stuffed in a box. The left sleeve was also significantly shorter than the right, by 1". I found that peculiar, given this was a Long. I had it dry cleaned, and my tailor brought the sleeve out.

Thankfully, there was enough liner to use without adding material. The weave is beautiful with great texture, a well-made vintage jacket.

Shoulder 18.5"
Sleeve 25.25"
Length 31.5"

where do you guys even find these 1940s and 1930s sport coats?? I've been looking for months now and haven't found anything even close to what you guys have! Where do I find a genuine 30s-40s sport coat in a larger size (46) for under 100 bucks?

The only thing I have pictures of is this: a late 1960s-early 1970s sport coat. Great quality made barleycorn tweed by a small company in Boston (the sleeve buttons are actually functional!) Regardless, this thing is a prefect fit, soft, and I love it. Just wish it was true vintage. It it passable for the 30s-40s look?

You are the wrong size. If you were a 38 or 40 you would have plenty jackets to choose from but jackets in 46 are very rare, even if you are prepared to shell out a premium. And I dare say, if you want to spend less than 100 bucks they are pretty much non-existent or totally thrashed and unwearable.

that's about what I figured. Just thought i'd ask. I was wondering why there weren't any Big and Tall sizes out there.

I have a sport coat with a similar glen plaid, but yours looks awesome! So subtle, yet elegant. My plaid is kind of an up-in-your-face plaid.

I also had an idea to get the look I want. I could tailor the back (with major help from my fashion professor) of an existing sport coat or suit jacket (by sacrificing the matching pants or buying matching tweed) to have the pleated/belted look. Thoughts?
