Here is my first Fedora

I recently found these pics that I didn't even know existed..

Alan, these were taken on 51st street in Maspeth and i got the idea a couple of days ago to check Google maps street view to see what was there now. To my surprise the apartment buildings were still there. The barber shop behind us has now been converted into apartments. The deli type store across the street behind my father converted also. The buildings on that block were built in 1915 and still standing today although the bricks have been covered over with siding and you can see someone is in the process of working their way down the street updating doors, siding, and windows.

Alan, I guess we almost grew up together and it took almost 60 years to meet even if only on the internet..... <<grin>>

The fire plug is still there...LOL.. I should go back and take another pic of me sitting on it now....

Anyway the point is for everyone, if you haven't been back to where you grew up for awhile take a cyber trip and check out your old neighborhoods, it is worth the time and effort....

This photo is just fantastic! Look how happy you look. You rocked the hat, even then.

It's been about 10 years since I've stopped back to my old neighborhood (Jackson Heights). I grew up on 75th St. The housing stock was almost unchanged from my childhood and though the ethnicity is somewhat different, it remains a vibrant and well cared for neighborhood, just a few stops on the Independent line from Manhattan.
