You might enjoy shopping in Ameyoko near Ueno station in Tokyo. You can find Eastman,Buzz Rickson,Real McCoy,etc. Also great japnese denim. I never get out of Ameyoko without heating up my credit cards. Have a great trip. Looking forward to the Hideki Okisaka report.

Been to Disney Sea... It's insanely detailed, like walking into a new world.

I will check out Ameyoko.

The suits here are pretty clean in cut. Not as ill fitted as I see in the States. The people are more fit and there are more men wearing suits than I have seen in any other city to which I have been. I'll take as many pics as possible... gota go.

Lots of suits, no suspenders on anyone, I've passed out a few business cards for my own clothing line from people asking about my suit.

Going through the stores in Shibuya they have all the highest of the high end and lowest of the low end. I never thought I would see a J. Press Children's clothing line with hoodies and big logo ball caps. Grenson shoes and lots of Burberry.

compared to New York, the high end stuff here is lower in cost and completely available through much of the general shopping malls. You see kids running around with Louis Vouitton backpacks heading to school.

Most men are wearing black or grey suits. Blue is rare and brown is almost never though there are a few i've see, but they are more fashionists with crazed hairstyles and they don't look like they are going to work.

I'll upload more... but here is some of the Thom Browne style I've seen sported in Tokyo

That's a great shot,Matt! Japan in general and Tokyo specifically is the place where you will see more drunks passed out late at night on the subways. The two main differences between the sleepers here and there are that there your fellow traveller who although in a state of alcoholic stupor is likely to be wearing expensive high end togs. Secondly, that their impromptu bedding is actually clean enough that when they eventually awaken they won't carry that special aroma of public transit home with them. Also at first I was going to say that at least he was wearing a pocket square, but upon closer inspection it seems to be a pack of cigarettes.

It is amazing how clean everything is. I saw someone leave a can outside a building and the security guard came over and scooped it up. You see cleaning crews dressed like Mario from Super Mario Brothers all over the place.

The economy isn't doing to well here from what I here, though when compared to the goods and the prices in the US you wouldn't know it.

Saw Real McCoy's Jackets on the racks and Buzz Rickson and Sugar Cane gear in a few stores. Over a thousand for their leather jackets and they are amazing. I picked up new pocket camera to take some pics in an easier way. I have a Canon S% IS I've been lugging around though I'm as I said, lugging it around and I tend to take less pics when I have a weight on me. I picked up a Canon 25 IS to stick in my pocket and take the shots I like to take.

The streets are packed and it's a sea of umbrellas out here with most of those umbrellas being 5 dollar buys at 7/11

I never saw this many people with umbrellas in London. No overcoats, just wet clothes or an umbrella. hats with brims are pretty trendy for the guys and there are plenty of girls dressed as Bo-peep to go around. I haven't researched what that's all about yet though Mr. Bern has some input on that and maybe if he reads this he can share it.

I'll be back in the states on the 3rd and then have to head out to New York in October to see a couple clients get measured..

I'll try to post more pics as soon as I take them.

From tokyo,

I think that my favorite thing about shopping in Japan is that you can get almost anything from a vending machine. From typical soda to women's underwear, there's a machine that sells it. Unfortunately, none of them did suit fittings when I was there - but that was 6 or 7 years ago.

I believe it's because the calibration required to measure the trousers inseam is likely to cause the loss of face in public. Not to mention the other sorts of loss that could occur from mechanical misfortunes in the vicinity of the gentlemans...pockets.

Those same gentlemen go looking for similar trouble on the trains to such an extent that they've had to segregate the sexes. I was pretty amazed at the number of posters concerning groping on the trains.

A gentleman never gropes a lady. The posters that you mention are for a different sort of animal. One that sadly can be found even in such a generally safe place as Japan. Of course we have those same sorts of animals here and yet there is no seperate car for the ladies to go to. No doubt some lawyers would sense the opportunity to protect the rights of the animals...

Matt I recall a lot of the umbrellas were parasols as well. I recall women wearing elbow length gloves as they drove...to prevent the arms from tanning.
As for the Bo-Peeps...read away:

Well, you would with the terrible weather we've been having here, lots of flooding and train delays and a derailment as well. A consecutive week and more of heavy rain. Hats wouldn't be worth a cent in the rainfall, even with umbrellas we get drenched. If you don't want to, then the only option is to stay indoors, or go only where you can go using underground passages and subways

And if the sun is out, then we ladies exchange our umbrellas for parasols, a must even on a cloudy day for fear of the UV rays :)
