In the US we use a number followed by a letter. C is narrow D is medium or regular and E Wide EE EEE etc.
This is mens shoes womans have narrower ones as well.
Now our Tennis shoes tend to be made on the same last, women or mens shoes, they just change the length. I am sure this is the case with many of the casual/sport shoes
When a shoe is listed as, for example, 44 EURO is that a 10 C or D? or does it matter? For some reason back in the deep dark recesses of my 60s brain, European shoes tended to be narrower than American shoes.
I wear a 10 E or sometimes a 10.5D depending on the shoe. I know that a shoe is only about a 1/4inch longer between a whole and half size but I never really looked at the difference in width.
any thoughts?
