Shoe polish?

My riding jacket is getting that blackened brown look ... or tea core i guess you call it. More on back then front... how about using black shoe polish? Anyone try that or other suggestions? Blasphemy i know... to even suggest this .. i may be kicked off this forum

my suggestion is don't, shoe polish is not designed to permanently alter color, it is also not designed to touch against surfaces like seat or your other clothes. why not just buy leather dye, dilute it if you want little effect, I would apply it also with a cotton rag, not with wool dauber it will over saturate it otherwise. I just dyed a DIY teacore few days ago, and quite happy how fast leather dye to dry and I can dilute it to the saturation effect I want it to be.

Rather than polish or creme, I've discovered that black shoe lotion works best. Any cheap, watery one in a small bottle that comes with a sponge or something like that. I've done it a lots of times if the jacket is fading to gray, which I don't particularly like.

I’ve got a small jar arriving from Amazon today. I wanted to test it out, mostly on some boots and shoes that I sometimes use for work. How long does it normally last?

Think I've tried this, starting to get a little foggy up in the noggin. But, black sharpie marker. That's for little cuff or other edge scrapes, more pinpoint dot, etc. I wouldn't try a whole panel or anything like that
